Advisory Boards help guide academics

More than 200 area leaders in education, health care, business, and industry joined Edgecombe Community College faculty for Advisory Board Night on February 6. Advisory boards consist of professional leaders, community members, and faculty who are experts in the subject area of their board. Michael Parker

A little more than a decade ago, Michael Parker dropped out of high school and joined the workforce, knocking around Eastern North Carolina, searching for his way in life. After a few years of low-paying hourly jobs, Parker decided education was the key to his future. He enrolled at ECC, earned his GED, and then began working toward a business degree. Now, at twenty-eight, Parker has discovered a path that has turned him into an honor student, community activist, student leader, and prestigious scholarship winner.

4th Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy Student takes oath of office

Congratulations! Basic Law Enforcement Training graduate Jerry Shoemaker took the oath of office with the Bethel Police Department on February 14. He was among eleven cadets who graduated from the 4th Basic Academy for BLET last fall.
