Weekly Update

Well it finally feels like November, and the Holiday Invitation below doesn't look so out of place.  Registration for the Children's Holiday Party is by phone only and closes on November 22nd, so that Santa's elves can pull everything together and be ready for the big day.
We are more than excited to have Wanja back at her desk  and plans for the 2018 5K Run and Walk for Autism Acceptance are underway. The 5K Run &  Walk Committee  will begin meeting on next Tuesday, if you'd like to be part of this effort contact Wanja . Over the years many people have donated their time and talent to make our signature fundraising event the major success that it is. Without the work of volunteers we can't make it happen. Without the Walk & Run we wouldn't be able to have monthly social events for families, like the Holiday Party and visit with Santa or the Halloween Ball for Teens & Young Adults,    where friendships are forged and community is built. We wouldn't have Camp Havvago for our kids, where they can grow and gain skills and  independence while having the time of their lives. We wouldn't have the ability to have educational workshops for families, extended evening  hours.  The funds raised by this effort are the life blood of your Center and each of us can do something to insure that the needs of those who receive a diagnosis for their child this year will be met  that families are confronted with unexpected crises have a place to turn to and that we collectively work to preserve the protections, services and supports for our loved ones.  Is this the year YOU can help? Contact Wanja.

Elections are behind us, but our jobs as advocates never ends. Cheryl Chan, once the driving force of the Center's Walk event, has been the driving force for a bill on Beacon Hill,   S 64 - An Act to establish a registry of caretakers found to have substantiated abuse against persons with intellectual disability or developmental disability, nick named Nicky's Law is coming out of Committee. Never underestimate what you can do to improve the lives of people affected by autism. Like Cheryl YOU can make a difference.
