I'm writing to announce, and to ask for your involvement in, a new initiative we are launching to support our neighborhood high school -- Lincoln Park High (LPHS).
Every resident of the 43rd Ward is eligible to attend LPHS, yet despite these significant accomplishments, too few of our students attend.
To support LPHS and drive neighborhood attendance, my office and a group of parents representing many of the local elementary schools have partnered together with LPHS parents to launch an initiative aimed at promoting and supporting our high school.
to demonstrate that our entire Lincoln Park, Old Town and Gold Coast community supports our high school, the goal of the initiative is to make LPHS the #1choice high school for local parents.
As the inaugural launch of the initiative, LPHS Principal Mike Boraz has requested the group tackle a big project -- prepping and painting all 65 classrooms at the school. Principal Boraz has put all resources directly into classroom instruction and as a result, the school is very much in need of a fresh coat of paint.
On August 21 and 22, volunteers from all over the ward will join to paint Lincoln Park High School.
We would love your participation in this kickoff project. This entirely volunteer-run initiative needs as many hands as possible to paint all 65 classrooms, and we would appreciate your support and involvement.
If you aren't able to paint, you please consider making a financial contribution of - it's $1000 to "adopt" a classroom, but of course all contributions are welcome to purchase supplies.
While painting the school may seem to be a small step, it is the first of many to come in supporting our neighborhood high school. Following this
project, this parent-led initiative will continue to grow and expand. We're proud that the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce and many of our neighborhood groups and churches will be encouraging members to participate.
