#2017APPAM Daily: Wednesday
Today's pre-conference workshop, "Policy Engagement: Building Relationships and Partnerships for Long-Term Impact," provided tools researchers can use to foster long-term, reciprocal relationships with policymakers. Discussion centered around legislator perspectives, establishing relationship networks and the various roles scholars can play in policymaking.

The evening Newcomer Meetup, a reception for first-time attendees who are also new APPAM members, provided an opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow Newcomers, as well as the APPAM staff and Policy Council, as an excellent launch to #2017APPAM. Welcome all Newcomers! We are thrilled to have you with us here in Chicago!
