Ariana Ahmed is a true Woman of Distinction! The Hunter College senior and student government president was recently recognized as the youngest such honoree from the 73rd Assembly district by Assemblymember Alex Bores. Ariana spent the first half of her life in Bangladesh and has since learned to navigate her identities as a first-generation American and queer woman of color. “My time at CUNY taught me how to take up and create spaces for myself in society that would not have been historically available to my identities,” she said. |
In addition to her role in the USG, she serves as president of Hunter’s Mock Trial team and is the co-president of the Queer Student Union. After graduation, she will join McKinsey and Company as a consultant and Business Insights Fellow. She aims to help the private sector progress in the realm of social justice.
Ariana's Advice: “Get comfortable and confident with public speaking — join debate clubs at your school, be part of public speaking workshops and practice how to present yourself more seamlessly with a friend. Being a strong public speaker is what landed me in so many campus leadership positions and amazed my interviewers when it came to multiple internships and fellowships.”
