Good qualifying effort for the #31 Whelen and
#5 Mustang Sampling Cadillacs. Teams will start 3rd & 4th respectively in Austin
AUSTIN, TX (May 5, 2017) - As the sun shined down on the 3.4 mile road course, two cars qualified in the top 5. Eric Curran, piloting the #31 Whelen Cadillac DPi-V.R qualified third for the Advanced Auto Parts Showdown. His teammate, Christian Fittipaldi, driving the #5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi-V.R qualified fourth

For Eric, he's excited about having a newly rebuilt Cadillac, and laid down a lap of 1:56.429 for the 2:35 PM ET tomorrow.  

"The Whelen Engineering guys have worked like crazy since Long Beach," Curran said. "To be here with a new car is great. Dane and I need a good run after the start to the season we have had so far. We are feeling good about this weekend."

For Christian, he and the Mustang Sampling team are fine-tuning the right balance while posting a lap of 1:56.655 for tomorrow's Showdown.
 
" We have been working hard on the set-up," Fittipaldi said. "Our Mustang Sampling Team will not give up, we'll do some homework to get our Cadillac better for the warm-up and race tomorrow."
