Greetings!

Welcome to the 811rv 30-Day Challenge hosted by Chef Alicia Ojeda of EZ Raw Food 101 and Coach Astrum Lux Lucis of Balanced Body Coaching.  This is our 6th month hosting the Challenge and we've certainly learned a lot about the frugivore lifestyle since our Challenge inception in January.  The biggest lesson:  it's not as easy as it at first appears to be.

Don't let that discourage you though.  Making major dietary changes all at once can be a shock to your entire being, so our new approach is to take things day by day, making small changes, and listening to your body's inner wisdom as being the keys to success.

Most people are very enthusiastic as they begin the Challenge, jumping in head first, then become stifled by a serious dose of their current reality.  The thing to keep in mind is that if you are just starting out, you will have to go very slow or you may experience severe detox including headaches, nausea, diarrhea, etc.

Your level of detox is going to be unique to you and your background of "abuse".  For example, are you a daily coffee drinker?  Do you eat a lot of processed foods?  Are you eating animal foods?  These dietary choices are now going to illuminate the toxic effects they truly have on your body as you begin to eat cleaner, more natural food sources.

It's not the food that heals your body, it's the lack of toxins being put into your body, and the clean foods making digestion easier, that free's up your body so it can begin cleansing and healing itself.  This is why fasting on water only is so powerful, it completely shuts digestion down and allows the body to go into a deep cellular cleansing and healing process.

Begin where you currently are simply making one adjustment, consume your caloric macro-nutrient ratios as follows:
  • 80% of your daily calories from carbohydrates (fruits, veggies, gluten-free grains, tubers, legumes)
  • 10% or less of your daily calories from fats (avoid eating overt fats such as nuts, seeds, avocados, olives, oils.  You'll find you will get plenty of fat from foods you had no idea even have fat in them.)
  • 10% or less of your daily calories from protein (fruit, greens, legumes)

We've started making a distinction between "80-10-10" and "raw vegan frugivore (811rv)".  80-10-10 is simply the above listed caloric macro-nutrient breakdown, and can be followed eating any type of food, even animal foods, however, for our intents and purposes, we challenge you, at a minimum, to go vegan and begin eating whole foods, keeping it within the 80-10-10 parameters.

If you are a current frugivore who's just looking for the weekly info fix, this Challenge will serve you as well, and you may be able to assist the other Challengers with their challenges.  Addiction to cooked food is probably the most powerful addiction known to human kind.

For those of you not familiar with the term "frugivore", it is simply the scientific biological dietary classification for all bi-ped primates (human beings fitting into that classification).  We like to say, we're all just talking monkeys.  It simply means a diet consisting of primarily fresh ripe raw fruits with a few tender leafy greens (about 1%-3% of their food consumption).

We have our first group conference call Sunday June 10th from 8:30-9:30 PM Central Daylight Time USA.  It's a Q&A with Anne Osborne.  Anne is wonderful!  Check out her website for more info - Anne's website.
