As we enjoy this time of year with celebrating special events like the holiday parades, parties, plays, movies, and so forth, let's take a moment to really embrace the season and the special times.  Remember that some of the special moments are not the big, spectacular events they are the little moments of love and joy.

Maybe it's the comforting silence of the air after a snowfall, or smelling the aromas of your favorite homemade pie.  Look for the joy in the little one's faces when they are in awe of the bright lights. Anticipation is high this time of year. Remember to savor the moment when it finally arrives. What are you feeling? What do you see and smell? What do you taste... all of the flavors on the pallet that maybe we only taste once a year which makes it even more special.

Take time to slow down enough with small moments of mindfulness, awareness, and appreciation with clarity and ability to SEE the magic.

I wish you all joy and peace in your hearts and much love and happiness in your souls.

Love and JOY,

Cynthia

22 Things Happy People Do Differently

There are two types of people in the world: those who choose to be happy, and those who choose to be unhappy.

Contrary to popular belief, happiness doesn't come from  fame, fortune, other people, or material possessions. Rather, it comes from within. The richest person in the world could be miserable while a homeless person could be right outside, walking around with a spring in every step. Happy people are happy because they make themselves happy. They maintain a positive outlook on life and remain at peace with themselves.

The question is: how do they do that?  Read Full Article

Holiday Fire-Safety Tips

by FamilyEducation Staff

As the holidays approach, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging people to look for and eliminate potential dangers from holiday lights and decorations that could lead to fires and injuries.

Each year, hospital emergency rooms treat thousands of people for injuries, such as falls, cuts, and shocks related to holiday lights, decorations, and Christmas trees. In addition, Christmas trees are involved in hundreds of fires each year, resulting in deaths, injuries, and property loss and damage.

Keep your family safe this holiday season by following these safety tips. . .

9 Signs You're Headed for a Holiday Meltdown

I love this article by Sarah Klein- Seasonal Stress.

Let's face it. Some holiday-related stress is to be expected. Turkeys will be burned. Flights will be canceled. How you react to it determines how the holiday will be remembered. And the pressure hits some people harder than others.

So how can you become one of those people who chuckles at adversity-silly snowstorm!-instead of crying into your eggnog? Here are nine signs you could be headed for a holiday meltdown, and how to stop the implosion before it happens.

Great Books To Read
What you are plugged into and what you choose to engage in can play a big role in maintaining happiness and success.  Here are some great reads to feed your soul.

Curling up in your favorite recliner with a warm blanket and getting lost in a good book is a great way to feed your happiness.

"This important book explores how play can improve -- and joyously change -- your life." ~ Jane Goodall, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and a United Nations Messenger of Peace

The Tools - Transform Your Problems Into Courage, Confidence, and Creativity - Phil Stutz and Barry Michels

"These tools are emotional game changers; they can help you work through conflicts, get happier, and feel a deep sense of purpose. As simple and practical as they are, they do nothing less than deliver you to your best and most powerful self." - Kathy Freston, author of Quantum Wellness
