HAPPY New Year! It's January and I like to look at this time as a time of reflection.  What is working for me and what can be let go; focusing on turning over a new leaf, with new opportunities, ambitions, goals and dreams.  I think of this quote by C.S. Lewis:

"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream"

Take time to reflect inward and become really good friends with your SELF.  Then together, along with the help of some great tips and good reads in this newsletter, you can take baby steps in discovering your possibilities and potential.

Right now is the time you can seize the moment and direction of your life and live more happily, healthily and have more longevity.

New year. Happier me.

Before we raise our champagne flutes and toast to the beginning of the New Year, here are 15 ways we can be happier when it's time to greet 2015.

Starting new routines, kicking old habits and living the way we really want is largely based on our desire to genuinely be the happiest person we know. Who doesn't want to be that person?!     Read Full Article

Wisdom for the Winter Season
by: Deepak Chopra, M.D.
Winter is the coldest season, but on the subtle level it's a time of rest, peace, inner focus, stillness, and reflection. You will gain a lot by focusing your meditation on these values. The flow of life naturally slows down and turns inward in this season, and it strains the physiology to resist this rhythm. Thoreau put it beautifully: "Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each."

Can Money Buy Happiness?
If you have participated in my Happy Women Mastermind Group or are signing  up for the next course being offered this month, you will learn about Happiness Trigger - Financial Savvy, in which the author, Valorie Burton, shares with us that it is NOT how much money we have, rather how and what we spend it on.

In this article, you will read that new research is suggesting that happiness is determined not by how much money one earns, but rather, how one spends it. University of British Columbia associate professor Elizabeth Dunn explains why and how we can BUY TIME.

Great Books To Read
What you are plugged into and what you choose to engage in can play a big role in maintaining happiness and success.  Here are some great reads to feed your soul.

Curling up in your favorite recliner with a warm blanket and getting lost in a good book is a great way to feed your happiness.

Unglued - Making Wise Choices In The Midst Of Raw Emotions- Lysa Terkeurst

"We live in an age where we tend to be ruled by our emotions. If we feel it, we say it or do it. In order to live an abundant life we need to manage our emotions, not be ruled by them. Lysa gives us practical keys on how to make choices that lead to life, not death."

Recipe of the Month
It's time to break out the crock pot! I love this time of year. Almost anything can make a tasty and nourishing soup.  However, some would like something a little heartier.  Here is one of my family favorites that I make. Enjoy!

Chicken Breasts Supreme made in the crockpot
2 slices bacon
6 boneless chicken breasts
1 4.5oz. can sliced mushrooms
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 T dry sherry
3 oz. sliced swiss cheese
1 T. chopped chives
3 c. frozen broccoli florets

1. Cook bacon in skillet until crisp. Remove bacon and reserve drippings in skillet.
2. Add chicken to skillet; cook over med-high 3-5 mins. until lightly browned - turning once.
3. Transfer chicken to slow cooker. Top with mushrooms.
4. In same skillet, stir together soup and sherry. Spoon over mushrooms.
5. Cover and cook on low 3-4 hours.
6. Top mixture in slow cooker with cheese slices. Sprinkle with chives. Crumble bacon over top. Cover and cook for additional 10-15 mins. until cheese melts.
7. Meanwhile, microwave broccoli in covered microwavable safe dish on high 6-8 mins or until crisp-tender.
8. Arrange chicken mixture and broccoli on serving platter. Serve with cooking juices.
9. Great with long grain wild rice as a side.
The Benefits of Water Therapy
Consuming 7 - 8 glasses of water per day is often mentioned as an important staple in everyday health. What is not commonly known is that consuming about 2 glasses of water just after waking up has many therapeutic advantages. Water therapy has been found to reduce symptoms in cases of chronic dehydration, asthma, body pains, and even cancer.
