"This is a gem of a Puligny 1er and in 2016 is a lovely blend of power and finesse. In sum, this is a knockout." Allen Meadows
"A superb, classic Clos de la Mouchère" Stephen Tanzer
"Once again Boillot has made some of the wines of the vintage and I highly recommend them to you." Allen Meadows
We are pleased to offer the highest-ever rated Clos de la Mouchere from Domaine Henri Boillot.
In his latest Burghound report, Allen Meadows calls the wine "a gem... a knockout" and awards it 96 points - above Boillot's Batard and the same as their Chevalier Montrachet and Corton Charlemagne.
In fact, the 2016 Clos de la Mouchere was only outscored by two wines in Meadow's entire white Burgundy report - Boillot's and Bouchard's Le Montrachets - both at 97 points.
For context other notable top wines scored as follows: Leflaive's Batard Montrachet (94-96), PYCM's Corton Charlemagne (92-95) and Jacques Prieur's Montrachet (93-95).
Given the prices that top White Burgundy now fetches, the 2016 Puligny Montrachet Clos de la Mouchere offers a fantastic chance to secure one of the vintage's greatest wines at very fair price.

A highly restrained nose requires considerable swirling to liberate the beautifully well-layered aromas of mineral reduction, white rose, spice, citrus and a wisp of exotic tea. Like the Pucelles there is excellent richness and detail and much more minerality-suffusing the almost painfully intense finale that is breathtaking in its persistence. This is a gem of a Puligny 1er and in 2016 is a lovely blend of power and finesse. In sum, this is a knockout.
96 Don't Miss! Outstanding - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Bright light-medium yellow. Utterly pure scents of stone fruits, apricot, nuts and honeysuckle. Rich, deep, silky and moderately saline but also powerful and backward, displaying terrific precision and purity in the mouth. A superb, classic Clos de la Mouchère: utterly plush and seamless without being heavy or over the top. Boillot noted that he will slowly replant these very old vines in a series of tranches over the next 15 to 25 years. (13.3% alcohol with 4.5 grams per liter acidity; cropped at 38 hectoliters per hectare, from vines up to 80 years of age). Release price $160."
93-95 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
