"Annual Meeting"

Dear Members & Friends of Our Savior's Lutheran Church,
I'm writing from home on this beautiful, snowy morning in late January. We've postponed our staff meeting until later in the day, schools are starting later, or not at all in some cases, and roads are slowly, but surely, being cleared again. Enjoy the beauty of it all, the fresh coat of new snow, the mild temperatures, and the slower pace of activity. These are the kind of days that make Minnesota winters so memorable and nostalgic.
As I look ahead to this weekend I am thinking about our annual congregational meeting and I hope to see you there. It is an important meeting for our church, not only to look back at the meaningful ways we provide mission and ministry to people near and far from us, but to look ahead at how we might do so in 2018 as well. We also look closely at our proposed annual operating budget and ask you to vote to approve it. This is important as whatever is approved depends on the amount of financial gifts and offerings you decide to give in 2018. We will meet at 9:15 am in the church sanctuary this Sunday, January 28.
Also, this Sunday we will begin promoting our Summer ministry opportunities. Be thinking ahead to Summer already and plan to sign your children up, soon!
That is all for now. I'm headed out to shovel!
See you in church!

A Day for Making Comfort
Each January women throughout the Saint Paul Area Synod gather at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stillwater to make comforters to go to both local and international charities. Many comforters can be completed in one day when many hands join together. On Saturday, January 27, we will gather at Our Savior's from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and individuals can spend the whole day or just come for an hour or two. No experience is needed as there are lots of "jobs" for everyone as well as lots of teachers. Bars and beverages will be provided but bring your own lunch. Everyone is invited and bring a friend or two. Join the fun! So many natural disasters around the world make the need greater than ever.
Quilter Donations Needed
The quilters are in need of donations of usable top sheets (flat sheet) of any size, color, pattern to be used at the "Day for Making Comfort" on January 27. Please drop off your donations to the church office. Questions? Please contact Audrey Reed.
St. Paul Area Synodical Women's Luncheon
All Our Savior's women are invited to attend the annual St. Paul Area Synodical Women's Organization Soup Luncheon here at church on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 10:30 am. Our speaker is J. Drake Hamilton, policy director at Fresh Energy. She will speak on renewable energy. Her talk will be followed by a soup luncheon. The luncheon is free to all participants.
Women's Retreat in April
The 2018 Women's Retreat is coming up on April 27-28 and will be held this year at Mount Olivet Retreat Center in Farmington. Seaside Escape is the theme and will focus on helping women find rest and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of life as we slow down and spend time with God and one another. The Bible Study will focus on Sarah and Hagar. The cost will be $110 for a double room and $130 for a single room.  Registration forms are on the women's bulletin board.  Please include a $25 deposit with your registration with the remainder due the week before the retreat.  Looking forward to spending time with our girlfriends!
