Los Angeles, CA -- The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), the largest immigrant rights organization in California, shamed President Trump Wednesday for issuing several immigration-related Executive Orders, placing the United States of America on the dishonorable list of the most inhumane, cruel, and xenophobic nations in the world.
The following are statements for Angelica Salas, executive director for CHIRLA.
"Today the Trump administration announced several immigration-related Executive Orders disemboweling any semblance of unity and compassion for the millions of families who will be directly affected.
Mr. Trump's threats have become real and portend havoc and division in the land. Mr. Trump, and the Republican Party acquiescing to his every whim, has chosen cruelty over compassion.
The immigrant community, and the American people, will not stand to see people's civil and human rights violated and we will organize in the streets and halls of congress and strengthen our alliances with a civic society utterly dismayed with today's actions.
Let there be no mistake about it. Today executive orders on immigration are extremely costly to taxpayers, represent an affront to human decency, fall in the face of our nation's history and values, and bring shame to a man who cannot from this day forward say he fights for justice and liberty for all."
