What a tremendous couple of months it has been! In August the Calaveras Humane Society moved into its new office right next door to the Animal Service Building. Everyone was just getting settled when that horrendous fire blazed forth.
After the latest wildfire disaster hitting Amador and Calaveras Counties which killed animals and people do we need to ask? Ask that question of the hundreds of volunteers, County Animal Services staff, fire personnel, law enforcement officers, and veterinarians who donated their time.
Since June, we have three new members join our board - Dawn LaPlante, Allen Dodson and Jamie Leigh. Together they bring a wealth of experience in non- profits, board commitments, business, government sector and of course, animal love. Welcome to them all !
We have been faced with many challenges this summer and early fall. We no sooner settled into our new office location than the Butte Fire demanded attention. Through all of this the Board stayed focused on our ongoing Public/Private Partnership with the county, approved a special fund for Butte Fire Veterinary Assistance and continued work on the Capital Campaign to fund the new shelter construction (to list just a few things).
The two members highlighted in this newsletter are VP Operations Karen Elliott and Treasurer Allen Dodson. Click here: Board Members.
