Hamilton Road Widening Project to Begin Monday, June 22, 2015

Community Open House to Take Place on Thursday, June 18, 2015

The photo illustrates a rendering of the aerial view of the completed Hamilton Road Widening Project.

The City of Gahanna, in partnership with Franklin County, will begin construction on N.Hamilton Road between Carpenter Rd. and US-62 beginning Monday, June 22, 2015.

The project will help enhance roadway capacity with the widening of N. Hamilton Road from one lane in each direction to two lanes in each direction, with a center turn lane. The project will also reduce traffic congestion with the addition of two roundabouts at the Clark State intersection and at the Northeast School north driveway.

In addition to the roadway widening, a 10' wide multi-use path will be constructed on the west side of Hamilton Road and a new sidewalk will be constructed on the east side of Hamilton Road to help improve pedestrian connectivity in the area.

The Hamilton Road Widening project is a two year project and is expected to be completed in 2017.  The community is invited to attend a public open house on this project on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Northeast School (500 N. Hamilton).

Throughout the project, updates will be provided on the City's website. For more details about the Hamilton Road Widening project click hereFor more information about the upcoming open house, contact the Public Service department at 614.342.4005.

Danny
Danny's Day
June 27, 2015

For the third consecutive year, more than 300 volunteers across central Ohio will come together on Saturday, June 27, 2015 to participate in 49 community service projects, benefiting 23 different organizations in honor of Danny's Day.

Danny's Day was established in honor of Daniel "Danny" Arnold, a 21 year old Gahanna resident, who died on June 5, 2012 as a result of injuries sustained during a canoeing accident.  Danny was very involved in the community and really wanted to make a difference in the world.

Each year, new projects and organizations are added to the program.  New projects and organizations for 2015 include:

G.R.I.N (Gahanna Residents in Need) - 760 Morrison Road, Suite A & B, Gahanna, OH 43230 - 8 volunteers in Clothing Pantry and at gardens (On site contact: Brianna Ruth, 614.330.0925)

Heinzerling Foundation - 1800 Heinzerling Drive, Columbus, 43223 - Arts and Crafts with residents (On site contact: Brianna Ruth, 614.330.0925)

Furniture Bank of Central Ohio - 15 people to build furniture at 118 South Yale Avenue, Columbus, OH 43222 (On site contact: Keith Arnold, 614.507.1015)

Everyone is invited to participate for this morning of community service and potluck lunch to celebrate the remarkable life of Danny Arnold. Click  here to sign up to volunteer today or to learn more about the Daniel Arnold Memorial Foundation.
