Join the Dallas County Democratic Party (DCDP) for our Annual Labor Day Picnic on Monday, September 4, 2017. This FREE event will be held from noon to 4 PM at Fiesta, Inc, 4930 Military Parkway in Dallas 75227.
With the support of 70 + sponsors, the 2017 Labor Day Picnic has raised more funds than any prior Labor Day Picnic in the history of DCDP. Their support is truly appreciated.
Labor Day marks the traditional kick-off for campaigns for the March 6, 2018 primary election. Many elected officials and candidates will be sponsoring booths at the picnic. As always, this event provides a forum for Democrats to meet the candidates, as well as their elected officials.
In addition to providing a forum for fun and politics, the DCDP Labor Day Picnic also honors Labor and the American workers. While the current White House praises "job creators," the Dallas County Democratic Party also honors those who do the work.
It is through Labor, with the combined efforts of all unions, that great achievements have been accomplished for the safety and benefit of the American workers, not the least of which are:
1. The creation of the "weekend" through the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1937;
2. The end of child labor, with the passage of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938;
3. Widespread employer-based health coverage through the work of the National War Labor Board, created in 1942; and
4. Mandatory maternity and sick leave through the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993.
We are grateful for the hard work and commitment of our unions, which advocate for the American worker. Help us celebrate their accomplishments on Labor Day by attending the DCDP Labor Day Picnic.
