Dave was alive with enthusiasm as he walked into my office and introduced himself.

We had never met personally, but had spoken briefly on the phone.  He was the Executive Director of a local nonprofit food bank, had heard about Holy Land Stone and wanted to come by to meet me and learn more about the company.

I gave him a tour of our facility and talked a bit about the origin and mission of our company before he proceeded to tell me about his organization.  Prior to meeting him I had become acquainted with the work of the food bank and was impressed with the tremendous impact it had upon the needy in our community.  Nevertheless, I was eager to hear of it firsthand.

My family and close friends oftentimes refer to me as "the interrogator".   I have always been intrigued by people, their stories and what inspires them to do what they do.  Perhaps it goes back to my childhood passion for reading about the lives of famous people ... particularly those who made a significant mark on our world in spite of overwhelming obstacles that stood in their way. They inspired me to dream of the infinite possibilities that would lie before me.

Thus it was only natural that I wanted to hear Dave's story.  He shared the details of his transition from professional career in the corporate world to that of a passion for serving the poor through the food bank.  I was fascinated by the stark contrast in these two careers.  So I asked him "how did you get from there to here?"  There was light in his eyes as he paused for a moment, looked at me rather intently and said "unless you take that first step you can't walk on water."

I took that statement to heart.  Over the next few days, it became a part of me as it played over and over in my mind.  Three days later I was awakened to it and decided it must go on a stone.  We introduced it with our next "new product release", and of course it became one of our best sellers.

Do you have the courage to take that first step when the opportunity arises...or will you cling to your safety zone?   We all have that inherent desire to experience the miraculous, but we must make the first move.  Are you content in your present circumstances or are you seeking life-giving miracles?

Peter found he could walk on water as long as he kept his focus on Jesus.  Do you trust that God will honor your courage?   Don't think opportunities for miracles are just for the chosen few.  Your miracle is awaiting you.  Be vigilant and courageous for God is with you.

Be ready to take that first step and to soar alive with the enthusiasm that only miracles can inspire.
