CHECK OUT THE AC&C'S NIGHTLY TO-BE-KILLED LIST POSTED BY URGENT PART 2

For DOGS

For CATS

WARNING: These lists are not for the fainthearted. But they provide a (partial) window into the animals forsaken by the AC&C.  The AC&C won't let you see ALL the animals they kill, but you'll get some sense of the extent of the killing.

BECOME AN AC&C VOLUNTEER

AC&C animals aren't responsible for the politics that tie the AC&C to the City's Department of Health. So, consider becoming an AC&C volunteer, including being an AC&C foster.  The animals need your help.

WANT TO FOSTER ACC ANIMALS THROUGH BEST FRIENDS ANIMAL SOCIETY'S NEW FOSTER PROGRAM?

Best Friends is terrific national animal advocacy organization.  They've been active in the tri-state area for the past few years.  They recently announced the launch of a foster program to help the AC&C.  Click here to learn about applying to be a Best Friends foster.

MAYOR'S ALLIANCE DESCRIBES "DIRE" SITUATION AT AC&C

Earlier this morning, the Mayor's Alliance sent out the following S.O.S. to its rescue partners:

Subject: Urgently Need Your Help at AC&C
Sent: Aug 14, 2014 7:24 AM

Hi all,

I'm sure most of you are aware of the problems AC&C has been having with their At Risk page.

The technical issues have stopped them from euthanizing any animals for days, and this has caused the situation at AC&C to become dire.

The most help is needed for sick dogs in Manhattan, and cats in Brooklyn.

Pulling cats from either location will help, they are overflowing with healthy, friendly cats.

We also need your help with transport.

We are backed up with requests, many of them for long distance transports.

If you can help now, and over the next few days by picking up the animals you are pulling from AC&C, this would help both us and AC&C immensely.

Thank you in advance for helping out where you can.

We just learned that after the Alliance sent out their email, the AC&C's server came back up.  But this 4-day downtime means that tonight's "At Risk" list will be very, very long.

So, anyone who can pull or adopt animals from the AC&C, the animals really need your help.... now

AC&C SCHEDULES NEXT BOARD MEETING FOR THURSDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 4TH

The AC&C has posted notice of its next board meeting, scheduled for 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 4th.  The AC&C has not yet posted details about the meeting location or rules.

Stay tuned.

And please save the date.

P.S.:  At the past 2 board meetings it was requested that the AC&C schedule its board meetings in the evening so that more members of the public (including volunteers and rescuers) can attend.  The AC&C Board said they would investigate whether it was feasible.  Apparently they're still investigating.

The AC&C recently held an evening meeting of its rescue groups, a clear acknowledgement that evening hours are better for people involved in animal rescue.  (In an upcoming newsletter, we'll discuss the highlights of that meeting.)
