Reimagining the Civic Commons
"Design is thinking carefully about the things we put in the world"
You are invited to join us on April 4 through April 15 at
Cascade Plaza in Downtown Akron and Summit Lake as we try new ideas to see how we can build better public spaces where everyone can gather to celebrate and connect to their community.
In Downtown Akron
As the gateway to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, we will celebrate our park heritage by placing a log cabin on Cascade Plaza to serve as a free public space for meetings and social activities. Outdoor programs such as nature walks, guided bicycle tours, games, music and yoga classes will be offered throughout the two weeks, as well as a
happy hour event on April 8 from 5-8 p.m.
The cabin is available for use from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. during the weekday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. during the weekends from April 4 to April 15. Individuals and organizations can utilize the cabin for meetings or social gatherings, and volunteers will be collecting feedback from people that use the space to better understand what they might like to see and do in the future. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete
this form.
To schedule your meeting or social gathering, please complete the request form
here (
you will be required to create a free account on Submittable). For more information about scheduling the Cascade Cabin, please contact Kelli Fetter, Director of Events for Downtown Akron Partnership at
[email protected].
For a full list of the Reimagining the Civic Commons activities and programs at the Cascade Cabin and Summit Lake, please visit
the event Facebook page or contact Katelyn Freil, Communications Coordinator, Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition at

Distinctly Downtown
Rubber City Comics

Now at its new storefront in Downtown Akron, Rubber City Comics focuses on comics, graphic novels, action figures, apparel, and other collectables.
