DID YOU KNOW?  Rook playing cards were introduced by Parker Brothers in 1906 to provide an alternative to standard playing cards for those in the Puritan tradition or Mennonite culture who considered the face cards in a regular deck inappropriate because of their association with gambling and fortune telling.

Our Mission
Meetinghouse Logo

The mission of the Germantown Mennonite Historic Trust is to protect and maintain the 1770 Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse, a significant symbol of the first permanent Mennonite settlement in North America, and to interpret and share the history, faith and witness of Mennonites in Germantown

from 1683 to the present.

We do this by

preserving the Meetinghouse and cemetery;

maintaining the nearby buildings and grounds;

preparing and implementing tours, exhibits, publications, curricula, and public programs;

and working with Mennonite churches, conferences and organizations, the Germantown community, and other partners.
