29th Atlantic Rally for Cruisers sets sail in November

 


This November, over 240 boats and 1200 people, including 34 children aged under

16, will take part in the 29th edition of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, which sets sail from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, heading 2700NM across the Atlantic to Saint Lucia. 


ARC sailors have a choice of routes with the introduction of ARC+ Cape Verde, and two starts are planned: 52 boats sailing ARC+ will depart Las Palmas marina (Muelle Deportivo) on Sunday 9 November, followed by the larger ARC fleet (190 boats) on Sunday 23 November. 

 
Saint Lucia is again getting ready to receive and play host to the hundreds of sailors and their families expected to begin arriving here in late November/early December.

Jet Blue now offers new direct service to Saint Lucia from Boston!

 

 

Saturday, November 1st marked the 1st JetBlue's new direct service from Boston, USA to Saint Lucia with this new flight operating throughout the winter of 2014/2015. 

 

"JetBlue began flying to St. Lucia from New York in October 2009 offering direct service three times a week from JFK before rapidly moving to daily service from this major US gateway" said the Director of Tourism Mr. Louis Lewis. He further added that "The flights proved to be so successful that JetBlue was keen to open up a new gateway to Saint Lucia, and in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Tourist Board identified the Boston market as ideal for travel to Saint Lucia. The Jetblue Boston service will also open up a number of additional gateways to Saint Lucia through the Logan airport in Boston with specific benefits to the Mid-West States"...READ MORE

"Rocket" as he is affectionately known could be described as a humble, down-to-earth, and unassuming character. Since joining the team in August 2006, Mr. Jn. Baptiste has been nominated and awarded in various categories because of his, among other things, affection for his job in the garden. He is currently employed as a Gardener in the Landscaping Department.

 

The criteria for "Most Congenial Employee" are: The employee: (1) maintains a smile, (2) is charismatic and inspirational, (3) is efficient, (4) is flexible, (5) portrays tact & professionalism, (6) possesses great sportsmanship, (7) is respectful and compassionate - all of which Athlbert possesses. 


 
He is a man who makes light of any bad situation, always finding the right word to say. Rocket is known for encouraging his colleagues especially when they are going through a bad situation. He pushes them to be diligent and to maintain a cheerful demeanour when under pressure because this is how he gets by.

Hilarion Hippolyte has been employed with the Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort as a Gardener in the Landscaping Department, since March of 2003.


 
He is a very honest individual who has earned the respect of all his colleagues.   Hilarion is an employee who is always eager to work with staff at all levels and assist them in whatever way possible.  He is dependable and committed to his job and ensures that he excels in whichever task sassigned to him.  He is very proactive and is not in the habit of waiting to be told what to do or which tasks to undertake.


 
Instead, he uses his initiative to get things done in an efficient manner. Hilarion Hippolyte always wears a broad smile as he goes through his day and greets everyone he comes into contact with.  He is extremely courteous and has won the admiration of many.

Foreign Language Training!

Three Hotel Employees Travel to Guadeloupe on Sunday to Undergo French Training

The Saint Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association (SLHTA) collaborates with the Institut de Coop�ration Franco Cara�be (ICFC) for the 3rd year to host another French training programme. 

 

The training is scheduled to commence on Monday 10th November through to 21st November 2014, where the students will learn conversational French specific to their department and other relevant department in a hotel.


 
This year, Bay Gardens Resorts and Sandals Grande St Lucian will participate in the training programme. Nadine Dupres from the Front Office and Kirvin Issac from the Restaurant will be representing Sandals while Lilia Paul a reservationist will be representing Bay Gardens Resorts.
