"Everything Has Become New!"

Dear Members & Friends of Our Savior's Lutheran Church,

Paul says it best and I recall his words every new year that he wrote in his second letter to the Corinthian Church - "So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!" (2 Cor. 5:17)

Everything has become new! If you're like most, the beginning of a new calendar year provides an opportunity to start over or start anew. It is always like a blank slate of sorts or a blank canvas. The potential and the opportunities are limitless and left only to our imaginations.

As Christians - as Children of God - in the waters of our baptisms, every single day is like a blank slate or blank canvas - again, left only to our imaginations to fill in. We are truly and wholly forgiven and free every single morning. Each day provides limitless opportunities for us to make the most of and to honor God with.

We are quick to make new year's resolutions. Many of which are broken quickly. What if we made daily resolutions with the blank baptismal canvases that we have been given as a gift from God? Daily we can strive to serve, honor, and worship God more. Daily we can work to get to know God more closely. Daily we can seek out someone who has yet to hear of or know of God and share our faith with them. There is so much we can do daily as disciples of Christ that can make our world a better place. Why wait for a new year when we can just wait for tomorrow?

Someone said to me on New Year's Day this year, "I remember 2017 as if it were only yesterday!" Funny. It WAS only yesterday! Tomorrow too, is only a day away - a new day - a new start - a new opportunity.

I look forward to tomorrow, with you.

Peace,
Pastor Dale
