CHICAGO (May 31, 2012)--The Handcuffs take their flashy garage rock to the streets of Chicago, at Northalsted Market Days on Saturday, Aug. 11. Featuring Chloe Orwell, a sexy frontwoman with a set of pipes to match, and the smart, technical ability of drummer Brad Elvis, the duo will lure you in with their infectious blend of glam rock. Opening for the legendary Blondie, the Handcuffs are the musical equivalent of the Ting Tings, a knife fight, and a feather boa. You won't want to miss the glitz, glam, and rock & roll at the Belmont Stage, at 4:00 p.m.
Rounding out a beautiful Chicago summer, the Northalsted Market Days will play host to over 40 musical acts on three main stages. The festival takes place August 11-12, where over 100,000 people from across the country converge on Halsted Street. Spanning six blocks, the event will also play host to 400 unique food, arts, and crafts vendors lining its sidewalks. In addition to the Handcuffs, this year's festival will also play host to Olivia Newton John, The Pointer Sisters, and Sheena Easton.
The Handcuffs: an edgy, sexy and powerful rock & roll ride from the all-mighty masters of the radio hook. Waiting for the Robot, the newly released third album from these indie rockers, combines elements of garage, glam and good old-fashioned rock and pop, along with their own trademark twists and turns, in what may be their most captivating set of songs yet. Songs from all three of The Handcuffs' albums have been placed in feature films and television shows on the CW, MTV, VH1, A&E, E!, PBS, FUSE, Fuel, ABC and NBC. Their music is also featured on the soundtrack of the new Showtime comedy special Wendy Liebman: Taller on TV and the Sundance and SXSW award winning documentary The Education of Shelby Knox.

Praise for The Handcuffs
"...'Waiting for the Robot' showcases their loud, fun crashing, bashing pop mayhem...there's a songwriting craftsmanship in tracks such as "Miss You On Tuesday" that is timeless and classy. Chloe F. Orwell is a sultry singer and the creative talents of drummer and chief writer Brad Elvis, have given her a platform from which to take off, fly and swoop with abandon." --Leicester Bangs
"Alright, let's get right to the point here, this is a great album. It's a stripped-down DIY take on alt-glam with the breakout track - instant party song all-time classic - Everybody Waves Hello being the crown jewel in a sack bursting full of gems. Essential." --Eric Petersen, RUST
"An immensely catchy and considerably glam pop-rock record that inserts its hooks into your brain and refuses to leave." --Matt Pals, Chicago Tribune Red Eye
"The debut CD from The Handcuffs roared its way into my eardrums with a push-pull, slinky-kinky feel that will put you into a Pulp Fiction state of mind." --Mary Wombacher, Time Out New York
"Smart and sassy, charming and even a little bit cerebral, 'Model for a Revolution' carries a tune with such a spring in its step that you figure The Handcuffs must have stumbled across the same fountain of youth from which their forebears sipped." --Kevin Bronson, Los Angeles Times |
