The Essential Concepts come from the Table of Contents for the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). They have been re-organized to fit under the Six Tasks of Catechesis. CCC articles numbers associated with each Essential Concept are listed throughout this document. Referencing CCC article numbers is a recommended resource for catechist preparation.

Catechist JourneyTeaching the Trinity
While discussing Christmas customs, I learned their families exchange few gifts, either on Christmas or Epiphany. I also learned that some of their parents are reluctant to discuss the holiday customs they had celebrated in their home countries. One bright, extroverted, and seemingly Americanized girl revealed she no longer asks about what it was like in Mexico because her parents told her, "We were poor. We had nothing."

San Juan Damasceno: "elevatio mentis in Deum.

Marriage and Family Life
marriage
Dear Marriage Ministers,

Today's topic is marriage enrichment. Pope Francis wrote, "it's essential that couples be helped during the first years of their married life to enrich and deepen their conscious and free decision to have, hold, and love one another for life" (Amoris laetitia, 218). It's so important that parishes offer continuing formation to newlyweds and all married couples to help strengthen their marriage and deepen their understanding of the sacrament of matrimony. Couples are hungry for this. I receive many requests from Catholic couples asking for a program to help strengthen their marriage. Let's fill our Archdiocese with parishes offering our couples easy, regular access to programs, study groups, workshops, talks, and retreats that nourish their marriages!  Continue Reading...
