Faith Formation Newsletter

October 23, 2017

Dear Catechetical Colleagues,

This week we complete our "Essential Concepts" under Task I: Knowledge of the Faith with the Creed. We hope you are continuing to check out the online video links and are finding creative ways to use them in your faith formation programs and classes.

In Advent, we plan to update the look of the online links with a new website. It will depict the various videos with pictures and an easy to access menu selection. This is also a good time to remind you to please share any great videos with us to include on this new website.

We hope you have taken the time to register for the Catholic Youth Convention. There are some wonderful speakers and events that will definitely be fun and engaging for our high school students and all of you who minister with them!

On December 5th, Paul Walker will be presenting in Isaac Orr on best practices for youth ministry. He will offering many practical suggestions for adolescent catechesis and we are looking forward to seeing many of you at this event! Registration for this event will be opening in the near future.

Please let us know how we might continue to support you with resource ideas and program support. You remain in our ongoing prayers.

In Christ,

The Creed: A Statement of our Belief- [185-1065]

The Essential Concepts come from the Table of Contents for the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). They have been re-organized to fit under the Six Tasks of Catechesis. CCC articles numbers associated with each Essential Concept are listed throughout this document. Referencing CCC article numbers is a recommended resource for catechist preparation.

TASK 1 - KNOWLEDGE OF THE FAITH - Students explore, profess, and reflect on our Catholic faith, which is the content of God's revelation found in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition and lived out in the Creed and Church doctrine.

Implementation Ideas for the Classroom:

*Please note the Library's Essential Concepts list is a working document, being updated on an ongoing basis.

Marriage and Family Life
marriage
Dear Marriage Ministers,

Finding good marriage preparation materials in Spanish is a challenge facing many parishes in our Archdiocese. Here are my top three recommendations for Spanish-language marriage preparation programs in Spanish which contain strong theology and catechesis. Do you have Spanish-speaking couples needing marriage prep but have difficulty finding parish staff or mentor couples who speak Spanish to help prepare them? You're in luck-one of these programs works well even without Spanishspeaking support at the parish level. Keep Reading...
