ArticleTwoNot Too Late to Get Flu Protection  man with flu
Does it seem that a lot of your coworkers, friends or family members have been under the weather lately? It's not your imagination: The flu is here in New Hampshire. It is not too late to get vaccinated. Flu shots are recommended for everyone over the age of six months, especially people who have a chronic health condition. Families First Health Center patients should call (603) 422-8208 (press 1) today to schedule a flu shot.
HealthTipHelp More NH People Get Insured
Medicaid expansion logo
The NH Legislature will soon be deciding whether to extend Medicaid coverage to uninsured adults whose incomes are too low to qualify them for assistance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Households with incomes under $11,490 for an individual, $15,510 for two people or $19,530 for three people (and so on) fall into this category. If you will be personally affected by the State's decision, or if you are concerned about others who will be affected, please make your voice heard! Contact Sen. Nancy Stiles at (603) 271-3093 or by email. You can also send an email to NH Voices for Health and say you'd like to learn about other ways to advocate for Medicaid expansion.

Learn why the nonpartisan NH Fiscal Policy Institute says Medicaid should be expanded.
BigBlueThanking Dr. Lantinen

On the occasion of his retirement from Harbour Women's Health, Families First thanks Dr. Al Lantinen for his 29 years of service to our Prenatal Program. He and his partner, Mark Chag, MD, have been willing to leave their office and come to Families First to provide prenatal care at a very discounted rate. Our patients and staff have truly appreciated Dr. Lantinen's quality care, gentleness and warmth, as well as his wonderful sense of humor. Our thanks also go to the Harbour Women's Health providers who continue to come to Families First to care for our prenatal patients.

Article5Get Insured: It's Not Too Late!

Do you know if you're eligible for help with health insurance costs? Households with annual incomes up to about $46K for individuals or $94K for a family of four may qualify for assistance with premium costs if they purchase a Marketplace plan through healthcare.gov. Plus, if your household income is less than about $29K for an individual or $59K for a family of four, you may also qualify for discounts on deductibles, co-insurance and co-pays.

You have until March 31st to enroll in the Marketplace for affordable medical and dental insurance this year. Families First can help make it easy for you! Click here to find out how to contact Families First staff members who are trained to help members of the public get the information they need, submit applications and enroll. This page also has links to lots of easy-to-use resources, such as estimates of what it might cost your family to have health insurance this year. (You don't even have to give your name to get these estimates.)

Since October 1, 2013, Families First has helped with about 1,000 application submissions, enrollments and related assistance. If you don't have health care, or if you don't have a way to pay for health care, NOW is the time to learn about your new options for getting covered under the Affordable Care Act. Don't miss out because you don't know!
