Spelling Bee Success
It was a competitive Spelling Bee featuring the top spellers from all 43 GGUSD elementary schools. Patton Elementary School's Brandon Tran (who was also last year's winner) won with the word exhilarating . Cynthia Tran from Heritage Elementary School and Charlotte Palisoc of Peters 4-6 Elementary School tied for second place. Thanks to Board of Education Trustee Teri Rocco for handing out the trophies and certificates to our top spellers.
Black History Month

February is Black History Month and throughout GGUSD, students have been learning about prominent African American leaders and the contributions they made to our country. At Murdy Elementary School, students worked in teams to study history makers like President Barrack Obama, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Maya Angelou, and Duke Ellington. Students explored how their character traits helped them succeed and impact society.
A Helping Hand

Enders Elementary sixth graders spent time volunteering at the OC Food Bank to prepare packages of food for families in need. Students had a blast and experienced the gift of giving back.

“I wanted to give back to the community in which I was raised, and still currently live in a way that empowers the community to recognize their resilience and improve their circumstances, all while being proud of where they are from. I love many things about GGUSD, however, my favorite thing is the commitment to student growth and learning. My mom and sisters are products of GGUSD and my daughter attends Monroe Language Academy.”
