Cummins unveils Class 7 electric truck prototype
Cummins unveiled its electric drive system at its Columbus, Indiana, technical center. The powertrain was installed in prototype Class 7 "urban hauler" electric tractor built by Roush Enterprises. The electric truck would be aimed at the local freight delivery and drayage markets. Full story
California gears up for stricter diesel truck emissions regulations
Diesel-powered trucks appear to be in the crosshairs once again as California legislators, citing overwhelming public support, call for even tougher emissions regulations. Full story
VW's electric-drive van could haul freight
Volkswagen has unveiled an electric-drive concept van that's part of the automaker's strategy to sell a million electric vehicles by 2025. It's also geared toward more autonomous driving by the time it's to arrive in production, and could offer a method of automated freight delivery. Full story
California city switches to renewable natural gas
The City of Long Beach, California, began dispensing renewable natural gas at its new compressed natural gas fueling station in August. The time-fill fueling station, built and maintained by TruStar Energy, opened in May and is being used for the city's fleet of refuse trucks and street sweepers. Full story
