"God of Science: The Scientific and
   Technological Advent of Avatar
Meher Baba"

At this Sunday's program Harry Thomas will discuss many of the early scientific and technological endeavors that paved the way for our modern era. In the process, Meher Baba's words about science and scientific discoveries will be shared, and an exploration of the numerous  scientific sychronicities that align themselves with the God-Man's Advent will be undertaken.

Tesla sitting next to his "magnifying transmitter."

Among the important personages talked about will be the revolutionary Nikola Tesla, whose work is still largely unheralded and under-appreciated by mainstream historians. Born on July 10, (the "Silence Day" of Avatar Meher Baba) 1856 the Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, physicist and futurist is best known for being the man who brought the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system to the world.

Due to financial difficulties during his life, Tesla struggled to get many of his projects off the ground or keep them afloat, however the world as we know it today what be unthinkable without his contributions.

In 1963 Meher Baba stated,  "Science is practically heading   toward its' zenith today, because  the very intelligent souls from    other planets are coming here."(Lord  Meher, Vol. 18, pg. 6170) Was Nikola  Tesla one of those souls?
However we may interpret these  words from Baba, the fact  remains  that in the later part of  the 19th  Century and early part of  the 20th  what became known as the Second Industrial Revolution (or the "Technological  Revolution") there was unprecedented change in the way people live; with  entirely new sciences being developed and implemented. For example, electric power came to replace steam power in factories. (Hacket,L.1992) Regardimg innovations in the broad use of electricity, it was in the year 1893 that Tesla made pronouncements about the possibility of wireless communication with his devices. Then in 1894, Guglielmo Marconi began developing a wireless telegraph system using radio waves.

At the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago (also called the World's Columbian Exposition) it was a system of lighting designed by Tesla that used AC or alternating current that was responsible for illuminating the event under the darkness of the night sky. Westinghouse (whom Tesla was employed with) got the contract and Tesla's AC system beat out Edison and his DC system of lighting.

In a planned parallel occurrence nearby at the Art Institute of Chicago, the very first "World's Parliament of Religions" was held.  This conference was attended by many important religious and spiritual figures from around the world. Among them was Swami Vivekenanda, who delivered a special address on the unity of all the religions. (Paul, Dr. S., 2003) This would later be a major theme of Meher Baba's Advent. In less than a years' time the Avatar would be born in India. Was Vivekananda's speech   at the "World's Parliament of Religions" a harbinger for the reappearance of the Avatar?

American inventor Lee de Forest.
Come join us this Sunday to learn about the fascinating ways in which the Avatar ushered in the technological age through a vast array of revolutionary advances which transformed life on our planet.  The program will conclude with a visionary projection to where science and technology are leading humanity.
