If you and a friend would like to attend, please contact Dino no later than June 9. Please include your name as it appears on your driver's license, your date of birth, address and email for each person registering. Also, if you are interested in donating any supplies or gift cards for our upcoming lunches at ICAN's Team training (a two-week training at the prison with clients and handlers prior to graduation) please see the list of needed items below. Thank you!

NEW STAFF MEMBER JOINS ICAN

ICAN welcomes Sandi Holubik as its new Client Success Manager. The Client Success Manager serves ICAN as the point person for interviewing, assessing, evaluating, placing, advocating and maintaining support for ICAN clients; all the while increasing customer engagement across the organization.

Sandi has worked in the medical field for several years. She has been a long time volunteer for ICAN and many other non-profit organizations. Her initial involvement with ICAN was in 2010 as a Breeder Caretaker. She has a strong belief in the mission of ICAN and is eager to apply her skills from patient care to client needs through service dogs. Sandi loves dogs - the bigger the better. Welcome to ICAN Sandi!

SPECIAL THANKS...

ICAN extends a special thanks to Sandy Burnett for her invaluable time volunteering as ICAN's Furlough Coordinator. This was a difficult decision for Sandy to make, however, with her increased responsibilities at her day job, she felt she could not give the coordination the time it needed. Wags and Tails to Sandy for all the time and effort she put into coordinating furloughs for our dogs in training. ICAN appreciates everything you have done for us, and so do the dogs!

...and a big WELCOME to Linda Johnson who has stepped in to serve as ICAN's new volunteer Furlough Coordinator. Thank you, Linda!  If you are interested in taking the Foundations Class to become a furlough volunteer, please contact Linda at linda@icandog.org

PUPPY LOVE VALENTINES A HUGE SUCCESS!
18,000 cookies later...it's naptime for Jules!
Puppy Love Valentine's Day 2014 was once again a big success! ICAN's newest pups in training, the J&J litter, wiggled their tails as they surprised children and adults distributing nearly 400 gift boxes, throughout the city of Indianapolis, with their sloppy wet kisses. By the end of the day, they were completely dog-tired!

We extend our sincere appreciation to our sponsors, Curran Architecture and Three Dog Bakery, for their generous support in making this happen; and to ICAN volunteer, Shirl Henderson, for coordinating this project!  In addition, a special thanks to Costco, GFS, and to the ICAN Handlers, Culinary Class and Community Outreach Program at IWP for their incredible support ... baking more than 18,000 cookies, cupcakes and candies, sewing handmade items, and assembling all of the gift boxes. And, thank you, to Carol Foster and Tammy Atwood, at IWP, for making it all flow smoothly, and Walker Eggs, for donating 60 dozen eggs to this project!

We are also deeply grateful to the following volunteers who gave their time, smiling faces and enthusiasm, making Puppy Love one big happy event! Kudos to: Peggy & Steve Jones, Janet Clark, Mary Hardin, Pam Budny, Jennifer & Mike Boyle Warner, Shirl Henderson, Mary Matthews, Melissa McCoy, Greta Meglin, Amberly Peterson, Brittany Kreigh, Frances Brahm, Gwen Langley, Anna Dickerson, Terri Stacy, Krista Thacker, Norm Swift, Clark Gramelspacher, Lori Kiel, Susan Spilly-Lee, Mary Ledford, Lauren Cislak, Amanda Hessel, DeeDee Siple, Leighe Disbro, Cindy Stickford, Karen Scanlon, Ginny Neff, Sara Lyn Thompson, Sarah Kosten, Katie & Denver Abernathy, Carol Wakefield & Mandy, Michelle Walker, Angie Harker, Christine Kuo, Katherine Vujovich, Geri Kiesler, Wendy Wright, Katherine Scheidt and Sumit.  Special thanks to Cummins for providing us a team of drivers to delivery Puppy Love!

Last, a very special thanks to the following business who provided us some great discount coupons for our gift boxes: Scott Pet Products, Nancy Noel, Santorini Greek Kitchen, Pet Supplies Plus, Mallow Run Winery, Milano Inn, Puppy Playground, Scout & Zoe's, Union Jack Pub in Speedway and Kelsey Atkins.

Thank you, all, for helping us make this year the best year ever!
