have experienced the loss of a child.

A weekend filled with encouragement, hope, peace, comfort, and love. A special time of caring, sharing, bonding, and meeting new friends walking on the same road and journey towards healing. Special designed workshops for mothers on healing guilt and regret, sibling grief, love and healing in your marriage, honoring our children by reaching out to others, and messages that will fill you with encouragement and hope. Plus, inspirational speakers who share insights on grief and the tools with which to cope.

Special Guest Artist & Speakers:
Alan Pedersen and Lynda Shelhamer

Alan is an award winning songwriter, successful recording artist and nationally recognized speaker on grief and loss. On August 15, 2001 Alan's 18 year old daughter, Ashley died in an automobile accident. He will be sharing and leading a beautiful candle lighting program helping moms get through the coming holidays. He will also be doing the workshop “Healing Guilt and Regret” .

Lynda is the founder of "Heavenly Hope and Healing" reaching out to mothers who have lost a child with support, encouragement and love. She lost her 15 year old son Josiah to suicide and has written the book “A Sparrow Falls” to give grieving mothers hope to get through each day. Lynda is an inspirational speaker touching the hearts of mothers and will be doing the workshop sharing ways to honor our children by reaching out to others.

The conference will be a special time of remembering and
celebrating our children through a beautiful candle
lighting program, creating a treasured memory,
and heaven bound balloon release.

Reaching the Heart of Your Child – Ann Bennett

Tools to help heal your child’s broken heart during their own young journey through grief. Practical ideas to encourage you as you deal with your own bereavement as well as theirs.
 
Honoring my Child by Reaching Out to others – Lynda Shelhamer

Our grief always brings a gift. It's the gift of greater sensitivity and compassion for others. We learn to rise above our own grief by reaching out and lessening the grief of others.
 
4:00 pm – Free Time or Tear Soup – Michele Paul

Tear Soup, a recipe for healing written by a wise woman named Grandy. Grandy has just suffered a big loss in her life and so she is headed to the kitchen to make a special batch of Tear Soup. To season her soup Grandy adds memories like the good times and the bad times, the silly and the sad times. She does not want to forget even one precious memory of her loss. We will watch Tear Soup and prepare a batch of our own tear soup that will help us towards healing.
 
Create a special memory plate with words describing your child,
or the ingredients to your Tear Soup recipe, or a quote, or verse.

Please register as soon as possible as the space is limited. The following registration fee includes: Accommodations: Double or single occupancy at the Canterbury Retreat and Conference center. If the Canterbury Conference center is full, accommodations at the nearby hotel Saturday night. (If staying at the hotel we will arrange rides back and forth to the conference center if needed). Refreshments Saturday morning during registration, lunch and dinner Saturday, and breakfast Sunday morning. The conference fee and materials for workshops, buttons with your child’s picture, candle lighting program and balloon release. Registration begins Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The conference starts at 10:00 a.m. and concludes Sunday at 12:00 p.m. A letter with directions and further information will be sent to you at least two weeks prior to the conference.

$75.00 – per person/commute only

$175.00 - per person/ single occupancy
(If rooms at the Canterbury Center are full a nearby hotel.)

$150.00 - per person/ double occupancy
(One full size and one twin bed) Canterbury Center

$100.00 additional for Friday night
