Volunteer Testimonials:
"We also volunteered for family promise at a local church housing temporary homeless/displaced families. It was remarkable hearing their stories. We all worked to Serve the food but it was more about us and the kids (ages 14,11,6) playing with the young kids and speaking with the parents. Even the teens gained so much from interacting and having thoughtful conversations with the parents.  We all live for the most part privileged lives and have strong family connections. My 14 yr was able to Humanize what homeless means. It's not in the streets but actual families and maybe they missed a payment or lost a job and ended in this circumstance. And those families got some reprise by having older kids play and interact with their kids for a while." Zaiba Malik
"we spent time with families that are no different than ours. They just happened to be down on their luck. For all those volunteering in December, thank you! You will surely have a positive impact on hearts and minds :)", Farah Khan

Islamic Center In The News

Every community has a narra tive.  Either that community controls the narrative or the narrative cont rols the community. Now more than ever the American Muslim community has to take control of the narrative. This can only be achieved if as a community we are building bridges and inroads with media.  Media outlets want to cover stories and do pieces that people are interested in. They want viewers, readers, comments, and discussions.  It is critical that as a community we are more visible and more vocal in the media.
We have been blessed for wide and positive coverage of the Center.  When there is positive coverage we must all give feedback and acknowledge and appreciate the work of the media. Please take a few minutes to review the media links and give positive feedback where you feel comfortable.
