Ready for something different on the menu? Then you won't want to miss this Wednesday’s must-attend event at Recess. July 11: Recess Family Grand Opening - Recess Tapas Lounge. Join us this Wednesday as we host all of you, our Recess Family, for a special friends and family opening of Recess Tapas Lounge. When we weren’t partying the weekend nights away with you we were putting together an excellent menu, finding the perfect chef and getting ready to take the next step at Recess-Washington. Well, this Wednesday, we want you to be the first to experience the results of all of our hard work. Join us as we introduce our partnership with Venezuelan born and Institute of Art trained executive chef Will Vivas, rated a Top 40 chef by Zagat. Chef Vivas has run restaurants in New York and New Jersey and brings his love of latin food, years of French and Italian training and creative mind to DC and specifically Recess to provide you, our family, with the DC’s next hottest food establishment – Recess Tapas Lounge. With most of our dishes under $9 Chef Vivas’ dishes are not only amazingly tasteful but reasonably priced. Join us Wednesday for the friends and family grand opening.The event begins at 4:30pm with our daily happy hour featuring all of our specialty drinks including: The Summer Splash, X-Tini, Swedish Cosmo, Watermelon Martini, June Bug, Raspberry Blossom Black Snapper & Laguna Azul all for $5. In addition, enjoy our happy hour small plates menu including our: Calamari Frito, Gambas al Ajillo (Garlic Shrimp), Croquetas de Bacalao (Cod Fish Croquettes), and Fresh Pei Mussels for $5. Following happy hour we will have our full dinner menu on display with light music provided by a guest DJ. Come check out our Latin-inspired menu with authentic traditional Venezuelan, Cuban, Puerto Rican and Chilean dishes including: Lomo Saltado, Lamb con Romero, Scallops al Chef, Gambas al Coco, Lamb con Romero, Empanada Cubana & Polla al Ajillo.
