** Reminder to please send in your decorated flowers in an envelope!!
 
Staff Appreciation Week Each member of the MG staff is unique and special, like the petals of a flower.
As a gift for Staff Appreciation Week, the PTA would love to fill the hallways with
YOU and YOUR CHILD'S thanks and appreciation.

One flower should be for your classroom teacher. The other flower can be for any MGS staff member who is important to you. You can decorate the flowers or write a note of thanks - just make sure to include the staff member's name! The more flowers we can get the better, so parents and caregivers are encouraged to decorate them too. And there's no limit - email [email protected] if you need more copies. The more flowers we can get the better.

Please cut out and return to school BY MAY 3rd. Thank you for your help!

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK - MAY 7 - MAY 11TeachApprec
Teacher Appreciation week is next week, May 7 -11th.
All week long we are looking for volunteers to help out teachers and staffs with their top 3 wish list. This can be making copies, flash cards, reading to the children, sorting stuff, etc... (no more than hour per task)
Will be sending a sign up soon

Monday May 7th - breakfast cart
If anyone wants to donate food please let me know

Tuesday May 8th - Spring is in the air!
Can't tell you but here is a hint: get the project Amy Habboush sent home to school by May 3rd please :)
If you have no clue what I am talking about, let me know :)

Wednesday May 9th - a little something to say thank you!
Please have your child bring in a school supply for their teacher.
Examples: crayons, glue, tissues, baby wipes, pens, colored paper, etc. Anything you know they may need.
If you want to bring in extras earlier in the week for me to distribute to non room teachers (i.e. specials, paras) and staff, please leave them in the box in the front hallway marked "school supplies".

MG MADNESS AND TALENT SHOW - FRI MAY 18MGMadness

Friday, May 18th         5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Middle Gate School     RAIN OR SHINE!
Admission Cost: $5 per person/ $20.00 per family max

Please make checks payable to: Middle Gate PTA
and return in an envelope marked PTA-Middle Gate Madness

Pre-orders due by May 10, 2018 to allow time for wristbands to be sent home via backpack mail. The wristbands will allow you to go directly through a separate line for band holders.

**Entry will also be sold at the door that evening.
Tickets will be available to purchase for some fun activities such as: the Cake Walk, Sand Art, Bounce House, Pocket Lady Miss Silveira, Photo Booth, Tattoos, Football Toss, Treasure Hunt and once again: A Dunk Tank featuring Principal Geissler (and some other good sports) !
Some activities are even included in the price of admission:
*Touch-A-Truck: Newtown First Responders & a demonstration by Aris the Police Dog
*Hands-on activities: Ben's Bells, EverWonder, Newtown Jugglers, SDSS Martial Arts
*Performances by Middle Gate students during our Talent Show portion of the evening.
Hot dogs, burgers and fries available for purchase by Romy's (Middle Gate's Reagan family) as well as beverages and desserts. Food sold will help benefit our school!
This is always a fun evening for the family and a great fundraiser for our School! We look forward to seeing you there!!

Middle Gate Madness Talent Show
Friday, May 18th 5:00-8:00pm

Are you interested in performing at the 2nd Middle Gate Madness Talent Show? You can perform a solo, duet or get together a group of friends. Parents are welcome to join in too! We will provide the microphone/sound system and you provide your own music, props, etc. as needed. Whatever your talent, this is a fun way to share your skills!

If you are interested, please fill out the form below and return it in an envelope marked " Middle Gate Madness Talent Show" and return via backpack mail to the main office. The week of the show we will provide participants with the list of when each act is scheduled to perform.

I need your help collecting pictures of the kids for a 4th grade slideshow, which will be shown at the 4th grade celebration.  We are in need of group pictures from any school or PTA event featuring the current fourth graders going all the way back to their kindergarten year. Field trips, assemblies, class parties, the turkey trot, Middle Gate Madness, Little Red Schoolhouse Day, etc.  You can send these pictures to this email address, [email protected]

The event is on June 5th, after school till 6pm.  Permission form will be sent out soon.
PTA BUDGET SPENDING COMMITTEEBudgetSpend 
Now that the budget has passed, the PTA Executive Board is seeking volunteers for a Spending Committee to help determine which Middle Gate wish list items to fulfill this fiscal year. Historically these decisions were made by the PTA president, PTA treasurer, and Mr. Geissler. This year we'd like to open this up to include any interested PTA member.

Volunteers should be prepared to:
- Review the wish list of purchase items
- Research costs and potential vendors as needed
- Help with coordinating purchases, deliveries, appointments, etc. as needed
- Attend any needed meetings, either in-person or by telephone (dates and times will be determined by the committee)
- Keep our PTA community updated on progress and decisions

This committee will be most active from now through June 30, when the PTA fiscal year ends. Volunteers must be current PTA members.

Do you want to advertise a MG event or program or are you looking for volunteers for a MG event or program? Then send us your information for submission in the Middle Gate Minute. The Middle Gate Minute is a Bi-Weekly publication. Please include a 1-3 sentence description and contact information for all submissions. If you want to attach a flyer or other document, it is best to send as .doc or .pdf

MG Weekly editor reserves the right to edit all submissions. All submissions due the Thursday before the next newsletter publication date.
