Dear Friends of Glastonbury Abbey,
GlastonburyCommunity

Summer can be a quieter time at the Abbey.  Fewer retreatants and fewer events, but still some noteworthy things are happening, and I hope you will experience them with us.

Hingham resident and author Arthur Boyle will visit the Abbey on July 24th to speak on his journey of miraculous healing, which is the subject of his new book, "Six Months to Live."

On August 10th, we commence our 60th anniversary celebrations with a picnic on the lawn with entertainment. We also host the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra for a lawn concert on August 17th and welcome the sounds of children to our Bible Camp.

As we enter the summer, we wish all who are journeying to travel in peace and return in safety. Have a blessed and happy Fourth of July!

With peace and blessings,

The Benedictine Monks of Glastonbury Abbey

Arthur P. Boyle on July 24th at 7 p.m.

"Six Months to Live"

Having been diagnosed with terminal cancer, Artie Boyle was in search of a miracle.

His friends took him to Croatia to the controversial shrine at Medjugorje where healings were known to happen.  When he came home, he was completely healed.

"Six Months to Live" relates not only Artie's miraculous healing but also his spiritual transformation -- and the hope and inspiration he offers to others.

This talk is free and open to the public!  Donations gratefully accepted.

60th Anniversary Celebrations -

Save These Dates!

On August 10th, after Mass, grab your friends, a picnic, some lawn chairs and head out to the Great Lawn for some Tony-caliber theater: The "Summer Thing" from years ago will morph into a fascinating new quiz show called "Monkeopardy!"

On September 13th, the 60th Anniversary Dinner Dance will be held at South Shore Country Club from 5 - 9 pm.  Invitations will be mailed, food will be eaten, wine will be imbibed, bodies will dance, gratitude will be expressed! Please contact Mary Dorey with any questions:  [email protected]

On September 14th, the 60th Anniversary Mass will be celebrated  - hopefully outdoors on the Great Lawn.

Glastonbury Abbey Institute
Logo

The Glastonbury Abbey Institute is gearing up for another full season.

Our brochure (listing all Spiritual Enrichment Programs, lectures, retreats, Lenten Suppers, Faith & Film movies, Days of Reflection and special programs) will be mailed in late August.  Because last year's brochure

increased awareness of the Institute's range of programs, we welcomed many new people to the Abbey!

If you did not receive a brochure last year and would like to be included in this year's mailing, please email [email protected] or call 781-749- 2155, x. 231 and give us your name, mailing address and email address.

New Peace Pole at Glastonbury Abbey

Thanks to a kind and generous friend of the Abbey,  we now have a carved wooden Peace Pole (on the right) in a clearing in the grounds of the Abbey.  The Peace Pole is a hand-crafted monument that displays the message and prayer "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in several different languages.

There are over 200,000 Peace Poles in 180 countries all over the world dedicated as monuments to peace. They serve as constant reminders for us to visualize and pray for world peace.

Please come and sit a spell...

Glastonbury Abbey Mass Guild

The monks are pleased to announce that the names of your loved ones who are enrolled in our Mass Guild are in the Abbey Church, in a beautiful carved wooden chest sitting under the Blessed Sacrament Altar.

The monks faithfully gather 5 times per day, in accordance with the ancient rule of St. Benedict, to celebrate the presence of the Lord in our midst and to pray for the needs of humanity and the church.

When loved ones, living or deceased, are enrolled, they are included in the daily Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, and all of the monks' prayers and works.
