Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research touts IUGB as a Model

 

Professor Saliou Touré, President of the International University of Grand Bassam (IUGB), and the IUGB community welcomed Mr. Gnamien Konan, Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and his delegation to IUGB's campus on Friday, February 27, 2015.

 

President Touré also welcomed several other distinguished guests including ambassadors, government and private sector officials, local university presidents and other high levels officials who attended this event to learn of IUGB's progress and to tour its facilities. 
 

Speaking to an audience of some 200 people, Minister Konan praised and noted the relevance of a university such as IUGB in Côte d'Ivoire, an American-Style University, teaching exclusively in English. He stated: "I want the International University of Grand-Bassam to be a model of an institution dedicated to employability [of its graduates], a model that will benefit our country..." Read more

IUGB Participates in National Career Days!

 

The International University of Grand-Bassam participated in National Career Days organized by the Ministry of National Education. Held at the "Palasi des Sports" from March 3-5, 2015 in Abidjan. The purpose of this event was to create a venue for secondary school students, universities and businesses to explore opportunities for students to find meaningful employment or to continue their education. In its third year, an estimated 80,000 high school students and their parents attended National Career Day's over the three-day period of the forum. Read more

 

VPs Koffi and Legouri Represent IUGB at African Higher Education Summit


IUGB Vice Presidents Samuel Koffi and Ahmed Legrouri represented President Saliou Touré and IUGB at first African Higher Education Summit in Dakar, Senegal from March 10-12, 2015. The conference was convened to discuss how to revitalize higher education for the future of Africa. The main objectives of the Summit revolved around creating a shared vision for the future of African higher education, building a constituency for transformation and investment in the sector; discussing best practices and successful initiatives; and innovative ideas in the continent; creating an African integrated community of practice; and ensuring coordination of the various African and international development organizations initiatives.  View U.S. Ambassador McCulley's Lecture on History of American Democracy


 

His Excellency Mr. Terence P. McCulley, Ambassador of the United States in Côte d'Ivoire, delivered a lecture at IUGB on February 19, 2015 that shared his perspectives on "the History of American Democracy". Ambassador McCulley's address was made before a gathering of IUGB students and faculty and focused on the different steps in US democratization. Click this link to view his lecture.
