Grace Sunday School resumes, September 17
Primary Grades 2-4 will begin the Fall term with registration on Rally Sunday, September 10 , and weekly classes beginning on September 17 , from 10 to 10:50 am , in the second floor classroom above the Choir Room. David Pitou, who faithfully organized the program in recent years, has turned over leadership to Kim Lovejoy.

In discussion with The Rev. Anne Richards earlier this summer, this year's goals are to:
  • Encourage children's personal relationship with God and their place in Christian community in a way that transforms
  • "Living the Good News" curriculum of Interactive and experiential classes structured around the weekly lectionary, activities that engage them in applying story to daily life, prayer and closing
  • Welcome and retain children with positive experiences
  • Serve continuing students, children graduating from Godly Play and visitors
  • Engage families through parent participation as class assistant at least 3 times/year
  • Build a regular program for Grades 5-7 with Amanda Sawyer's leadership
Call for Teachers

Please consider joining our dedicated corps of Sunday School teachers. Three more teachers are needed to complete the roster. Teachers rotate as leaders and assistants and are supported by committed and enthusiastic parents. Training and support are provided for this vital role. Please respond by September 17

For more information, contact Kim Lovejoy via email or call 646-335-5080, evenings and weekends.
Young Adult classes begin, September 24
Led by Grace member Amanda Sawyers, the Journey to Adulthood program of young adult classes uses an engaging, discussion-based format to draw young people, Grades 5 and up, into thoughtful consideration about what it means to be a faithful adult in today’s world. The Journey to Adulthood program is based on the key concept that “Personhood is a gift from God, but Adulthood must be earned.” It encourages teens and ‘tweens to explore all areas of their developing selves and to learn to connect their faith to all areas of life.

The class meets during the program year, generally on the last Sunday of the month at 10 am in the Hope Library. To learn more about Journey to Adulthood classes, please see Amanda Sawyers, or use the Contact Grace form.

Announcing the 2017-2018 Children’s Choir Schedule at Grace Church
Rehearsals for the 2017-2018 year will start Monday, September 11 beginning at 3:30 - 4:15 pm in the Choir Room.

The Children’s Choral program is open to children ages 4-8. Children get basic tools in singing, to learn to enjoy singing, to learn about the church, the church year and to learn a wide range of fun music.

Children sing at the 9:15 am family service as well occasionally at the 11:00 service. Children are encouraged to bring a friend. There is always a special treat or snack following the rehearsal. Parental participation is also encouraged. We want to encourage more participation with our children in our worship services.

A schedule for the year will be given out and emailed to families at the first rehearsal.

I look forward to working with your children another year, Paul.

September is “telephone interview month” for the Search Committee, as we start getting to know our candidates better in the first round of interviews. For the next couple of weeks, we will continue to conduct phone calls with each of the candidates approved by the Bishop. Following these calls, the Committee’s next task will be to select from this group six or seven candidates for in-depth, in-person interviews.

The Committee is grateful for the prayers and support of the clergy, the Wardens, the Vestry and the entire parish throughout this important process of transition.
