Brooklyn Pride Parade this Saturday, June 9

Join us this Saturday, June 9 , as we march with our brothers and sisters in the Episcopal community to increase visibility, acceptance, and inclusion and work to ensure equality for the LBGTQIA+ community. We will be part of the Episcopal Churches of Brooklyn, walking with our own Grace Church Brooklyn Heights banner. 

We will assemble at 6:30 pm in front of 151 Fifth Avenue in Park Slope, between St. John's Place and Lincoln Place, in front of a business called "Red Hook on the Road.”

Gender Equity Committee event with former Presiding Bishop: Saturday, June 16
The Gender Equity in Word and Deed Committee is delighted that The Rt. Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori will be Grace Church’s Second Annual Feminist Scholar-in-Residence at an all day event here at Grace, on Saturday June 16 . Bishop Schori was the first woman Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church.

So far, in addition to Grace Church Brooklyn Heights, our additional co-sponsors are Mercer School of Theology, All Saints Park Slope Church and St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church.

Altar Guild seeks new members: Sunday, June 17
Grace's current Altar Guild members will meet at 10 am on Sunday, June 17 in the North Room. The Altar Guild is open to all parishioners, and is actively recruiting new members.

Please join us on the 17th if you would consider joining the group. Altar Guild members arrive prior to their regular service to set up the Eucharist.

This contemplative ministry is a good way to serve the community, learn more about the Eucharist, and participate directly in one of Christianity's oldest traditions.

The Altar Guild gladly trains new members; no prior knowledge is required. Please consider attending on the 17th to learn more, contact Kate Hill .
Annual Parish Summer BBQ: Sunday, June 17 on Grace Court
In order for the entire Grace Church community to come together on that day, we will have one service at 11 am. Please help us make this event a successful one by contributing and or volunteering your time on June 17. Contributions of sides and/or desserts would be greatly appreciated as well as volunteering to help grill hamburgers and hot dogs.

Ready to explore your faith in a supportive group?
The Grace Education for Ministry group is now taking names for several openings in September. Participants commit to meet Wednesday evenings for 36 weeks each year to study, reflect and explore lay ministries in the world.

Summer Choir News
CALLING ALL SINGERS!

From June 24 – September 9  all worship services will be held in the air conditioned Guild Hall. A summer choir will be needed to lead in worship at the 11:00 am service.  Rehearsals  will be  10:15 am  in the Guild Hall with Paul Olson at the piano. Service at 11:00 am

All are welcome! If you have family visiting and would like to sing---bring them along!

The younger generation are also welcome!  No audition! Some helpful hints: some ability to read music, a love for singing, and a joyful spirit!!

TUESDAYS IN AUGUST HYMN SINGS

August Hymn Sings will resume on  Tuesday, August 7 , from  7:00 pm - 8:30 pm  in the McKittrick Choir Room. Led by Paul Olson, there will be presentations by Pam McAllister, Music Director at Park Slope Methodist Church, by our own Rector, Allen Robinson, and other surprise guests!!

Each Tuesday during the month of August! Bring a friend or two and your love for singing!
Grace Church School Applications
Parish families interested in applying for admission to Grace Church School for the 2019-2020 school year may request an application online , beginning at 9 am on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 . Prospective parents should note that the school recognizes the importance of diversity in its student body.

Completed applications are due September 28, 2018 . Tours will be assigned once completed applications are received. 

Please indicate if you are applying under Special Consideration status as a Grace Church Parish Member (early notification and commitment, if offered a place). Special consideration eligibility does not guarantee admission to the school.

Grace Church School is committed to making pre-school a viable option for all. Financial Aid is available for students from Twos through Pre-Kindergarten and is awarded on the basis of need and availability of funds.
