Grace's Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 16 , at 7:30 pm with an all parish potluck beginning at 6:00 pm. Please join us as we discuss the accomplishments of 2017 and plans for 2018. At that meeting there will be an election to replace the following officers whose terms are expiring or vacant for Junior Warden and Vestry as recommended by the Nominating Committee (consisting of Warden Vivian Toan; John Colon, Martha Dietz and Tom Hill, John Colon, Bill Newbury, members) and endorsed by the current Vestry. Candidates are: Marilyn Grant, Junior Warden; Chis Larson, Brianna McCarty, Lauren O’Garro-Moore, and James Williamson. For a second 3-year term: Andrew Foote, Abagail Nelson

Marilyn is a Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM) and member of the Altar Guild, primarily at the 8 am worship service. Brianna McCarty also served on the Search Committee. She is active with the lay ministries of the Family Service, directs the Christmas Pageant, is one of the lead organizers of the WinterFair and has most recently helped introduce North Room Chats, a forum for conversation on faith and spirituality in our busy lives. James (Jim) Williamson serves with dedication as co-chair of our Annual Giving Campaign. He can be found at any of Grace’s services!

The 2018 Annual Giving Campaign is winding up!
Please submit your pledge by January 31st! Thank you to the many, many members of the Grace community who have already submitted a pledge for the coming year. If you have not, there is still time to stand up and be counted as a pledging member of our parish. This is especially important this year as we welcome a new Rector. You can pledge online through your Realm account, this form , or filling out and returning a pledge card.
REMINDER: Memorial Service for Bill Mead
Saturday, January 20

A memorial service will be held here at Grace for Bill Mead NEXT Saturday, January 20 , beginning 11:00 am in the sanctuary, with a reception to follow in Guild Hall.
Lay Help at the 9:15 Family Service
This lively service relies on the help of many to offer the chalice, read the prayers of the people, collect the offering and serve as acolytes. But we realize that there are gaps in our understanding and that we don’t all know how the pieces fit together or even all the details of our specific responsibilities. Please join Jim Hagen, Kate Rock and Linda Wexelblatt on Sunday, January 21 , at 10 am in the North Room to learn more about lay help at the Family Service and also how you can volunteer. For more information contact Jim or Kate .
Contributions from WinterFairs and Galas
to the parish...Let us count the ways!
As we prepare for Grace’s 2018 WinterFair on February 3, followed by the Spring Gala and Auction in May, we should take a moment to consider the many projects underwritten by past fairs and galas. In recent years, funds raised by these events have underwritten the renovation of the parish office; the renovation of the ladies’ and men’s restrooms; and a significant contribution to the capital restoration and beautification of the church. Most recently, proceeds from the WinterFair & Spring Gala have funded the new acolyte robe closet in the Guild Hall and the new ADA accessible bathroom (this latter project was also supported by a significant memorial gift). Future projects include the replacement of the air conditioners in the Guild Hall and Choir Room. In addition to these major projects, there have been countless smaller undertakings that have improved our life in community. None of these would have been accomplished without the commitment and hard work of many, many parishioners and volunteers.

We remain grateful to Lynn Vardakis for her many years of leadership and to all of those who have helped make each Fair and Gala such an important part in the life at Grace Church.
Rescheduling of Estate Planning Forum

We are postponing the estate planning forum which had been scheduled for January 9 at 7 pm. Richard Moore and an associate from the law firm of Day Pitney are willing to offer this free workshop to help parishioners with estate planning issues and we would follow with a reception. If you are interested in attending this forum, please contact Matilda Garrido at  to RSVP. We will set a date when we have sufficient number of likely attendees.
Sunday School News

left: putting together the Living the Good News Mobile

On January 7, eight girls and boys in the Primary class learned about the baptism of Jesus and the love of God for each of us. They identified situations when we might need God's spirit, then created a mobile of doves bearing words that express how God's spirit comes.

The class for grades 2-5 meets weekly from 10-10:55 and uses the "Living the Good News" curriculum. Teachers in the Winter term include Kim Lovejoy, Thatcher Woodley, James Grohsgal and Pamela Brown. One or two more volunteers are invited to assist monthly. For more info, contact Kim Lovejoy.
Tuesday Bible Study continues
The Tuesday morning Bible study group continues in the Choir Room at 10:30 am with the Rev. Craig Townsend, associate for faith formation at St. Ann and the Holy Trinity, discussing Biblical Images.  This group has now met for the past twelve years, lead over the years. For a fascinating summary of the topics, see a list compiled by parishioner Ben Bankson!
