an awesome party. Two solo shows in one night - my buddy Misha
Goro will also be exhibiting his portrait paintings from his trip to Cuba.

For more info, and to see the work from the comfort of your mobile device, go HERE. If you prefer your printmaking in motion picture format, here are some vids from the trailer

I did a crazy thing

(climbing on top of the roof with a guitar was not it)

It's been a busy year. To celebrate Chicago Printmakers Collaborative's 25th
birthday, I bought a building, gutted it, and moved
the printshop into its
customized digs. It's a pretty swanky upgrade complete with skylight, printmaker party roof and full kitchen - a printmaker's paradise. Made possible by City of Chicago SBIF funding and my amazingly patient and talented architect husband Michael Silver. It's my most ambitious art project to date, and it's still a work in progress. Here's a before and after:

 Hamlet and Prosparrow

In my ongoing love affair with the bard, I created a few new
pieces for a recent show with my fellow Shakespeare artists at
Dan Addington Gallery:

"Prosparrow's Tempest", hand painted solar plate etching, 8 x 10 inches, ©2016

I made a mess

When I do child's pose, I prefer to be covered in charcoal, conté, dry pigments,
and burnt plate oil. My friend Lisa invited a few visual artists
to her awesome candlelight class at Gratitude Yoga to draw and do whatever. Bart Longacre made awesome drawings, another artist was doing watercolors, and Monica took photos. I kind of wanted to make art AND do yoga, so I taped a huge piece of paper to the floor and basically made a giant mess that resembled what might happen if the drawing supplies section at Blick's exploded. YogART, anyone?

Sons is making a record based on

To celebrate the band's upcoming 25th year, Sons of The Never Wrong is
channeling a guy who was hard of hearing. Don't all folk bands do this?
We hope to have this thing out by early 2017. Stay tuned, and in tune.
Meanwhile, you can follow our whereabouts at www.sons.com

Summer classes just posted!
Learn how to screenprint, make etchings, carve blocks, print lithographs, marble paper and MORE.
Did you really just waste your valuable time reading this?? You won't get THAT 14 minutes back! Ok, be honest, did you skip down to the bottom just for the arty freebie? If so, it's ok, I do love this part...
If you read this through to the end (or if you only read the end, ha!), email me at deborah@chicagoprintmakers.com with your name & address. I will send you a hand-printed mystery gift, suitable for framing or sending along (I like to encourage this thing we used to call "writing letters"). Put the word "longwinded" in the subject line. A healthy and happy May to you all. I am so thankful that you're in my orbit.
