Dear Member,
Tomorrow you have two chances to dine with the Chamber. At 7:15 am you can join us for our networking breakfast at the Broken Yolk and hear Jeff Frank, the former columnist with the North County Times. Jeff's columns were always funny and diverse and showed his ability to develop a network of people throughout North County who would feed him stories. The networking group meeting includes breakfast, $10 for Chamber members and $15 for non members.
Then for lunch, you can join the Chamber as we listen to Mayor Desmond's "State of the City" address at 11:30 am.. With Redevelopment gone and a new City Manger coming, there are plenty of issues for the Mayor to discuss.. Tickets are still available, call the Chamber office at (760) 744-1270. Lunch catered by San Marcos Deli is $25.00

Mayor Jim Desmond's State of the City Address will have a different format and venue for 2012. The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and the City of San Marcos are co-sponsoring this year's address and luncheon which will be held at Williams Barn at Walnut Grove Park, 1950 Sycamore Drive in San Marcos on Tuesday, February 28th. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 with Community Hero Awards being presented at 12:00 noon and the Mayor's address at 12:30 pm. Cost for the lunch is $25.00 per person and sponsorship packages are still available. Sponsors for the luncheon include Hunter Industries, EDCO, Corky's Pest Control, Tri City Medical Center, Cal State University, San Marcos and San Diego Gas & Electric. Corky's Pest Control Joins Business Leadership Circle For the last 40 years Corky's Pest Control has had the pleasure of servicing Southern California and making it his passion to not only study the uniqueness of our climate and terrain but owner Corky Mizer has also become a well known author of the industry. The company employs master and doctorates to stay current with the most current pest control techniques.
Owner Mizer also serves on the Chamber's Board of Directors and will be leading the Membership Drive again this year. Their participation in the Business Leadership Circle includes being the naming sponsor for the Swing Into Spring Street Festival on April 1st, and sponsorships for the Annual Installation Luncheon, the State of the City Address, and the new Women's Leadership Luncheon scheduled for this fall.

Chamber Announces 2012 Travel Programs
9 Days in China in October for $2,099 - 9 Days in Spain in November for $2195
Following the success of the first San Marcos Chamber trip to China in 2011, the Chamber is announcing two destinations for 2012. One is China again, this time with an option to go to Xian to see the Terra Cotta Warriors for an additional $500. Cost of the trip to China is $2,099 for double occupancy. Chamber members get a $100 discount. The Chamber is returning to China this fall with the same pricing as last year.
:$1,999 for Chamber members for 9 days, airfare, 4 and 5 start hotels and all meals. The Chamber is also offering an upgrade on the trip to visit the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian this year for an additional $500.00 Our new destination is Costa del Sol, Spain. This trip you stay in one hotel the entire time on the cost of the Mediterranean. Day trips include, Alhambra and Seville with optional day trips available like Gibraltar. Cost of the Spain trip is $2495 and includes airfare, hotel accommodations, 13 meals (double occupancy). Also available is a Madrid Extension for $649. |
