Fall and Winter are Here
Three Great Gear Combos

We've been busy for the last couple months adding new jackets and pants for the '13 season.  This time of year, folks are looking for riding gear that will keep them warm and dry... and of course protected.

We picked three jacket/pant combos for your consideration, and we are offering discounts and promotional gift cards to help you buy them (promo gift card amounts good through 10-31-12).

Also, at the bottom of this newsletter are some links to gear that now have complete sizing advice, descriptions and feature photos.

BTW, thanks so much for all of you who spread the word for us on the Shoei Qwest closeout on Monday.  We saw traffic from a wide range of sites... user groups, deal sites etc, which will make it a lot easier to move these helmets.  Thanks again!

And one final note... the AGV Sport Monza suit closeout is winding down.  Only four suits left in a size 44 and sizes 46 thru 52 are still available, but only about one fourth of the beginning inventory is still for sale.  Hurry!

Below are the jacket/pant combos featured today:

FirstGear Jaunt T2 Jacket
FirstGear HT Overpants

We recently reviewed the Jaunt T2 jacket and declared it one of the best values on the site for a 3/4 textile.  It has an amazing number of useful features and its base price is very reasonable.

Jacket MSRP:  $199.95
Our Price:  $179.96 and a $30 Promotional Gift Card

Pair it with the HT Overpants and you've got a great winter weather outfit.  These HT Overpants are not a new product this year, but the same basic design has been a favorite in our store for years.  These pants could be paired with the Jaunt T2 or just about any textile or leather jacket style.  Buy one or both and receive a $30 promotional gift card for each piece.

Pant MSRP:  $249.95
Our Price:  $224.96 and a $30 Promotional Gift Card

Tour Master  Transition 3 Jacket
Tour Master Flex Pants

The Transition Series 3 jacket is VERY similar in price and features to the Jaunt.  In fact, after I wrote my product review of this jacket, (months before the Jaunt's review), I noticed they were startlingly similar!  It's nice to have choices and now you have two good ones.

Jacket MSRP:  $209.99
Our Price:  $188.99 and a $30 Promotional Gift Card

The Flex pants have both a fully removable thermal liner AND a removable rain liner.  You can use the liners together, or just one at a time or none at all depending upon the weather conditions.  And like the FirstGear HT pants, these come with long side zippers to make it easy to put them on and take them off over jeans, which is a great option for commuters.

Pant MSRP:  $199.99
Our Price:  $179.99 and a $30 Promotional Gift Card

New Product Reviews, Pics and Fit Check:

The third jacket/pant combo being featured today is the Horizon Jacket and Pants.

The Horizon combo is both a featured item and newly reviewed.  We've got some Promo Gift Cards that go with the sale of these two products too.  Of course the price point is a lot higher, but please read my comments and you'll hear why they may be right for you. I've got some pretty glowing things to say about both these products.

REV'IT Horizon Jacket  Wow, what a nice jacket! I'll tell you about all the specific features of the Horizon jacket by REV'IT, but overall, I'd like to say that REV'IT makes a very high quality jacket. The feel of the materials, the stitching detail, the well tailored seams... all those things give you an overall feel of fine materials and top notch assembly work. It is really something that is hard to convey via words and pictures, but in person, you'll certainly see it. The best analogy I can make is when comparing cars... REV'IT is analogous to the expensive German car. More money for sure, but there IS a difference!  (more)

REV'IT Horizon Pants  ...The material used in these pants has the waterproof/breathable barrier bonded directly to the back of the outershell fabric. You'll get a pant that won't get waterlogged as with other types that have a separate (removable or non-removable) barrier that is installed BEHIND the outer shell material. Even with the dual-use nature of the shell construction, the pants don't feel any thicker than other similar textile pants. And that is important because when you consider the bulk of the removable thermal liner, the combo of the two doesn't get overly thick...  (more)

And here are move new product reviews completed this week:

REV'IT Knox Advanced Back Protector  This Knox back protector is a great, low cost upgrade. The weight is very low and therefore it should be virtually unnoticeable in the jacket (except for the slightly thicker profile)....

We checked jackets in the brands we carry to see if this back protector would fit and we found that the only jacket brand (besides REV'IT! of course) it would fit into directly was Speed and Strength. It makes sense it would fit Speed and Strength because a few of their jacket styles already come with this upgraded back protector.  If you or someone you know was handy with a sewing machine, it wouldn't be hard to fashion a pocket to hold this back protector in your jacket. Just to give you an idea, the height is 15.25" tall and 12" wide at the upper end, 5" wide at the lower end and approximately 1/2" thick.

REV'IT Apache H2O Boots  ...They very much remind me of the old Oxtar Matrix (now called TCX X-Five). Those boots have been fan favorites for years from touring riders and commuters. The boots are actual leather rather than man-made materials (very popular with Sidi and Alpinestars) and a lot of people think they break in better and feel more like they've been built for you. One unique feature of both is the large grab handle in back. It looks cool and makes the boots super easy to put on... I like that!   (more)

REV'IT Rival H2O Boots  ...As you can see, the Rival has a more flat sole which would be best suited for street and sport riders. The Apache has a bit thicker sole with more aggressive tread better suited for adventure touring riding. The minor difference between the two is that the Rival is a mix of leather and textile and the Apache is a mix of leather and suede. I really can't imagine the textile vs. suede makes any functional difference, although off-road boots often incorporate suede in their boots and the "look" is more suited to the Apache's adventure touring roots....  (more)

REV'IT Kelvin H2O Glove  Wow, these Kelvin H2O gloves by REV'IT! feel really nice! The overall styling makes them feel closer to a sport glove than some more bulky insulated gloves. The combination of nice leather and the minimal thickness insulation works together to give a fit like this. And the price is reasonable too....The insulation material in the glove is Hydratex® Z-liner. I've read the claims about this technology, and while I'm sure it has some benefit, I'm always a bit skeptical of functionality that seems to offer promises contrary to laws of basic thermodynamic principles... but anyway, I bet they perform well (based on REV'IT!'s reputation for quality)...  (more)
