Hello, been burning the midnight oil to get the Winter Newsletter done and thankfully with one day to spare, I have it to share with you. Click here to read all the news, events and happenings for this winter! For those who are parents of adults with ASD ONLY click here for the winter newsletter for adults.
In the next quarter we have two vacation weeks of activities that I 'm sure you and your kids will enjoy. We have decided to change our policy on Family Fun Activities, given the changing landscape. Kids who attend center based programs while their parents work, may attend with staff from the program who will be responsible for them while at the activity. This is for WEEKDAY VACATION WEEK ACTIVITIES ONLY. Parents will need to register their children for the activity and indicate that staff will accompany them and sign a waiver.Children will attend at the center's family subsidized rate but ABA center staff will be required to pay the full cost of the activity. Please give Cid until next week to get the waiver on the registration page. You will want to discuss with your providers if this is something they can do as well so you'll need time for that as well.
Our aim in hosting family activities is to help families connect, forge friendships and build a support network for themselves and for the siblings of the children on the spectrum to meet other siblings. This has not changed and of course those who are at home with their children will still be attending. Our traditional monthly activities on weekends will be restricted to our families only, to preserve the intent of hosting such activities in the community.
One activity I'd like to highlight is coming up soon. It's the Holiday Themed Paint Night which is scheduled for December 7, 2017. This activity is for parents, adults on the spectrum and older teens, you can register on our website. For the past 2 years my son Ed's painting has served as our holiday card. Our friends and family now look forward to seeing his artwork each year. I'm hoping he will choose the snowman you see below, the other choice is a Christmas tree, but no matter what he chooses to paint I know it will become a treasure for us.
Looking forward to seeing some of you this Sunday at the Children's Holiday Party the official kickoff for me of the "Holidaze" !
