South Hills Holds Fall Commencement Ceremony
South Hills' Fall Commencement Ceremony for the graduating class of September 2017 was held at the Penn Stater Conference Center on September 25. 

Student speakers from the Class of '17 included:
  • Zachary Hughes, Information Technology (IT) Program - Lewistown campus
  • Jason Eastep, Medical Assistant (MA) Program - Altoona campus
  • Pyper Petersen, Graphic Arts (GA) Program - State College campus.

Words of inspiration were also shared by keynote speaker, Rich Fornicola, Centre County Treasurer and long-time friend of South Hills.

Congrats to the 105 graduates!

"I am South Hills" - Meet Instructor, Mike Gates
Mike Gates is a Program Coordinator and popular Instructor for the  Business Administration—Management & Marketing program at the State College main campus.

In 2011, Gates was named Outstanding Educator of the Year by the Private School Administrators (PAPSA).

New South Hills Online Art Gallery Honors the Memory of Graduate, Kari Schlegel
South Hills is proud to announce the opening of our new virtual gallery, The Kari Lynn Schlegel Memorial Gallery, named in memory of a lifelong Bellefonte resident and 2012 graduate of the  Graphic Arts  program at South Hills

The gallery includes works created by current South Hills students and alumni and features new and emerging artists, as well as individuals already working in the field of design. All of the work on display was created using knowledge and skills gained through South Hills courses and programs.

The Gallery is now accepting submissions from current South Hills students and graduates from degree programs or Lifelong Learning courses.

South Hills Opens Drone Pro-pilot Flight School
South HIlls' new "Drone Pro-Pilot Flight School" is creating quite a buzz in the Centre Region! Classes are offered evenings and weekends through the State College main campus. The October class is forming now!

Student Spotlight:
Glen Plumley
A regular sight "in and around" the State College campus is Business Administration Management & Marketing (BAMM) student, Glen Plumley.

Glen is a freelance write r who has been published locally in the Centre Daily Times Weekender , as well as severa l other print and online publications. He's also a poetry enthusiastic who has been writing poems since the fourth grade.

Glen recently participated in a unique, interactive art installation, called the Telepoem Booth. The Telepoem Booth is an art and poetry "exhibition" that allows visitors to use an old-fashioned rotary phone booth to "dial up" and listen to recorded poems. Listeners can choose from a directory of poems written by famous authors, as well as works written and recorded by local poets like Glen. His project submissions are entitled: "After the Rapture" and "Honest Labor."

The booth is located at Webster's Bookstore & Cafe in downtown State College and is available to the public.

Winter Reflections Craft Market Set for Nov 18th
Just in time for the holidays! Our popular Winter Reflections Craft show will be held on Saturday, November 18 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at South HIlls' State College campus. The event will feature quality,handcrafted items made by local artisans. as well as other food and gift items.

We're still looking for vendors, so if you're interested in setting up a space at the show, please contact Cindy Crater via email at [email protected]

Sue Burnside King will be selling crocheted women's hats, fabric-lined tote bags, & more at this year's show .
