It’s time to gather the ingredients and get your friends, family, scout troop, team, or colleagues together to bake dozens and dozens of cookies for the next Kairos Weekend!
What is a Kairos Weekend?
The Kairos Prison Ministry organizes weekend retreats to bring support and Christian fellowship to incarcerated men at Donovan State Prison. These retreats attempt to change hearts, transform lives, and develop a Christian community inside the prison. We join other Christian churches in baking hundreds of dozens of cookies for each retreat. This is a tangible way of letting the inmates know that someone loves and cares about them. The inmates come for the cookies and leave with Christ in their hearts!
What kind of cookies can I make?
You can bring
any kind of homemade cookie
– snickerdoodles, peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chip, sugar, etc. However, no bar cookies such as brownies or lemon bars, please. Rice Krispies Treats are the exception and are considered a special treat!
How do I package the cookies?
Put
1-2 dozen cookies in a clear ziplock bag
, then freeze them. Please mark bags if the cookies contain nuts.
When should I bring them?
Bring them to all Masses the
weekend of October
14/15
except the Sunday evening Mass (Sorry, we have to deliver the cookies Sunday afternoon!).
What if I have questions?
