"do yourself a favour, forget all the hullabaloo about Bordeaux and Burgundy; go seek Gaston Huet's wines ... to silence a dinner part with awe and wonderment." Neal Martin
"Huet Vouvrays can be some of the greatest wines in the world" Jancis Robinson
1997 Huet Pre
ière Trie - Library Release
aving tasted all three sensational wines earlier this week, we are pleased to offer the rare 1997 Huet Première Tries, direct from the cellars of Domaine Huet.
The 1997 vintage is seen as one of the greatest ever at the Domaine alongside 1947, 1959, 1971, 1990 and 2015 but are, for now, considerably more affordable.
These pristine Moelleux Premiere Tries are usually only made between two and four times a decade, and it is very rare that all three single vineyards are made in the same vintage.
Incredible levels of botrytis paired with plentiful ripeness, intese acidity and two decades of maturity combine to showcase the durability, complexity and pedigree of these outstanding wines.
Quantities are very limited so please let us know as soon as possible if you would like some of these truly brilliant, unique wines.
1997 Vouvray Le Haut Lieu Moelleux 1ère Trie
£455 per case (6x75cl)
5 cases available
"The 1997 Vouvray Le Haut Lieu 1er Trie is crafted from a vineyard composed of clay, as well as calcareous and silica-based soils. It offers floral and sweet mineral aromas that lead to its hugely broad, honeyed character. It is densely packed with tropical fruits (mangoes, papaya, and hints of banana) as well as quince, clay, and honey-flavors. As with its two siblings, it is stupendously long, easily lasting 45+ seconds, moreover, it can be cellared for decades."

1997 Vouvray Clos de Bourg Moelleux 1ère Trie
£475 per case (6x75cl)
5 cases available
"Huet's deep golden-apricot colored 1997 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Moelleux Première Trie opens with a highly delicate, crystalline, clear and aromatic bouquet with herbal and chalky-mineral aromas plus a dash of lemon juice. Pure, straight and fresh on the palate, this Clos du Bourg reveals a marvelous lightness, precision and crystallinity on the palate. It is straight, dense and vertical on the palate, showing great elegance, finesse and balance as well as complexity. The finish is long, full of energy, tension, grip and eternal youth. The fruit is highly delicate and precise here, of remarkable finesse and concentration but drawn with a pencil instead of a felt pen. Bottled with 78 grams of residual sugar in April 1998. (Clos du Bourg) was absolutely amazing. Its lightness, great finesse and elegance is not far from 2016, but 20 years of bottle aging have added enormous complexity. This wine is still available, and Chenin Blanc lovers shouldn't miss it. Tasted February 2018. 2018-2043"

1997 Vouvray Le Mont Moelleux 1ère Trie
£495 per case (6x75cl)
5 cases available
"The orange/amber-colored 1997 Vouvray Le Mont Moelleux Première Trie has a brilliant bouquet of perfectly ripe peaches and apricots, along with some flinty and minty flavors. Rich and pure at the same time, with some white pepper flavors. On the palate, this is a perfect bottle: bright and shining, with great finesse and energy, enormously vital and mineral, with great tension and just the perfect sweetness. Nicely balanced and with a firm and tightly woven finish, with grip and concentration, this wine indicates a great aging potential."
