Sanctuary Worship Service

Do you ever just feel completely fatigued? Does the heat of the day or the weight of living sometimes seem like to much? Jimmy Moore's sermon this week is titled "The Heat of the Day: Fatigue and Rest in Christian Perspective", from Matthew 11:28-30. Music will be provided by organist Pam Freeman, and Lisa Kurz will sing a solo. Children may participate in the Children's Moment and then enjoy Sunday School or stay in worship with their families.

Each Sunday
"Busy Bags" in Sanctuary for Preschool & Elementary Aged Children
There are "Busy Bags" just inside the sanctuary doors for those who listen best while working with their hands. Both adults and children are welcome to enjoy them! Please make sure to return the bags with the crayons and/or reusable materials (unless your child wants to take their creation home) to the baskets after service for future use.

Breakfast Volunteers
Our breakfast event has become a great way to start the morning, and to provide a deep welcome to all who come our way. It is also a great way for those groups who help provide breakfast to raise contributions for their own mission effort or a cause they value. Sign up today in Garton Hall to provide breakfast on a future Sunday. Contact the church office to reach Jimmy Moore at the church office or breakfast coordinator Christine Conrad at:

Story Church
Story Church is a unique Christian worship experience that meets monthly and brings people together through the telling of personal stories and song. A recent start-up, Story Church held its first three worship experiences at First Presbyterian Church, and is being held at St. Mark's for May and June. During Story Church gatherings, music is presented by Susan Anderson and friends, (some well known, some brand new); This month's theme is "Faith", and Story Church welcomes Anna Maidi (executive director and founder of the  Openhearted Campaign ) and Rabbi Ron Klotz as storytellers. Come hear personal faith stories from different faith traditions on Monday, June 19th at 7:30pm at  St. Mark's United Methodist Church . Holy Communion is offered (if you want); and tasty goodies are shared.

car-front-icon.gif UPDATE ON "PAVING THE WAY" PARKING LOT RE-PAVING PROJECT
Parking lot paving will begin Monday, July 10th. For the week of July 10-14th, there will be no parking at St. Mark's. The building will be locked throughout the week and all events have been moved offsite or cancelled for Monday through Friday. Leaders of groups which meet at St. Mark's will be contacting their group members about changes of location or rescheduled times for meetings. During the paving, church staff will be working in the church office from 9am-3pm, and they can be contacted by phone or email as usual. Thank you to those who have given or pledged to Project St. Mark's the Sequel, and to the people and agencies who have supported the "Paving the Way" fundraising project to make this improvement project possible. The parking lot work should be completed during the week beginning July 10, though weather delays are always possible. Adult Sunday School, 9:30am
Bible Banter

The Bible Banter class meets in Room 11 each Sunday from 9:30-10:15am. The Scripture text for the morning's sermon is used as a discussion-starter.

We look at the passage in its larger context, and we sometimes explore a bit of Bible-writing history. We offer some thoughts on what the morning's sermon might look like, based on the Scripture the pastor has selected. We leave time to discuss implications of the Scripture for our own lives, and we often even delve into topics far afield of the morning's original topic. You are invited to bring some breakfast from Garton Hall into Room 11 and join the conversation.

Adult Sunday School, 9:15am
Nomads
The Nomads class is a generally progressive group which meets each Sunday at 9:15am in Room 10 for fellowship and discussion of selected readings on issues related to faith, spirituality, or social justice.

All are welcome with no preparation required.
