"Summer Vacation "

Pastor Dale and his family are spending this week on a mission trip to West Virginia. Along with helping others, they hope to take in some sites and adventure experiences unique to that part of the country.

This Sunday we will have guest Pastor Cassie Nault leading worship and preaching at both services in Pastor Dale absence. The Croix Chordsmen Chorus will bless our 8:00 am service with music and the Praise Team will lead the 9:30 service in song.

The staff at Our Savior's wish you a blessed summer. Whether you are vacationing or just enjoying staying at home.

Peace!

Announcements

Ecumen Senior Housing Update

Many of you might be wondering about the status of the Ecumen project since the congregation voted to approve the purchase agreement in May. Recall the vote was to approve the sale of OSLC property to Ecumen provided the City approved the zoning change to allow for Ecumen to build in our residential area. This has been a multi-step process. First, the City recently approved a zoning amendment that would allow senior living facilities to be built in residential areas within Stillwater through an application process (hurdle one overcome). We approach the second hurdle on July 12th when the Stillwater City Planning Commission hears our application for a Planned Unit Development (PUD) with Ecumen. I will be in attendance at that meeting and will make a statement on behalf of the congregation to the commission in support of the project. Anne Stanfield from Ecumen will also be making a statement.  If we can present a convincing case to the commission, then they may recommend approval of the PUD by the City Council (hopefully on the August 15th agenda). Approval by City Council would be the third, and hopefully last hurdle to overcome before Ecumen can break ground.

I'd like to stress that approval is not a for sure thing and that the project is not supported by many of our neighbors unfortunately. We encourage residents and OSLC members who are strong supporters of the project to contact your elected city council members and voice your support.  Consider also attending the Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday, July 12th at 7 pm at Stillwater City Hall. This has been a long time coming and we're almost to the top of the hill, but might need a final push to get to the peak. We're excited of the prospects that the Ecumen project could inject new life into our congregation and our community. We can all play a part in getting there.
