People Profile |
Alan Forrest McLucas is a Snowlion Rep vet, having delivered the complex and vocally demanding role of Anton Mesmer in last summer's PortFringe offering of the new musical Mesmerized, as well as most recently, endearingly, the role of fish-faced Anna's father, David, in The Freaks Club at the Studio Theater at Portland Stage.
Alan has had the opportunity to play many major roles in his nearly 40 years in the local theater community, but would rate his experiences with Snowlion Rep as among his most memorable. Both of his productions with them provided their audiences with unique and engaging theater experiences, beautiful music, exciting stories, and superb productions. Alan tends to base his judgment of the quality of a production by his parents' reaction and comments, and in both cases here, they loved what they saw and heard.
In addition to these fine productions, Alan has performed with Lyric Music Theater, Portland Players, Good Theater, and Headlight Theater as Pippin, Joseph, Don Quixote, Juan Peron, and many other lead and supporting roles.
He divides his time between work here in Portland at IDEXX Laboratories and his precious little schoolhouse in Fayette.

The Freaks Club a hit with critics!
A new musical depends upon good press to help it along in its life on stage, and The Freaks Club garnered some fine reviews in its recent outing at the Studio Theater at Portland Stage. Here's a sampling:
"Upbeat and heartfelt...the high school students of this story are immensely engaging and well-drawn...
together they make beautiful music, particularly in the fun and sharply written title song...the characters and their quirks, lovingly drawn by the cast, are both entertaining and affecting enough to carry us through to Anna's final, inevitable realization about living in her own skin." Megan Grumbing, The Portland Phoenix
"A world inhabited by unique, loveable, yet ordinary everymans springs to life...the show has a professional, polished feel...The cast does a fine job singing this fun score and the show offers many laughs alongside darker issues in our lives. As with any good musical, the audience leaves with optimism and a song in the heart."
