Letter from the Executive Director

BVP just returned from February vacation, and we're excited to start the week by sharing some upcoming opportunities that will help you break the cabin fever and get involved in the community.

         Join us, for Art's Sake!

March is both Youth Art Month and Music in our Schools Month-- what better time to celebrate our youth artists? On Saturday, March 14, BVP will host "For Art's Sake: A Scholar Art Show & Artisan Fair." Stop by our Elementary School 2 between 10:00AM and 3:00PM to enjoy the open gallery with artwork on display from all of our scholars. There will also be over 20 artisan vendors selling a variety of artwork including paintings, jewelry, painted woodwork, and more. Guest artist Lizanne Donegan will be holding free pottery demonstrations. The entire event is open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.

Please also consider joining us for our ticketed art reception the night before on Friday, March 13. With a $50 donation you will receive admittance to our silent auction where you can enjoy food and wine as we celebrate the opening of our second annual show!

Register for the High Expectations Conference: College & Career for All

Another exciting opportunity is coming up on April 11. In collaboration with the Central Falls School District and Rhode Island Mayoral Academies, BVP is hosting a conference for families, educators, and community leaders around the importance of holding high expectations for all students. Be sure to read more about the sessions, which will be updated here. You can also register here

For more information about the art show and the conference, be sure to read the additional details included below.

It's good to be back! Looking forward to spending more time with you in March and beyond.

My best,

Jeremy Chiappetta

As you know, the Central Falls School District, in partnership with Rhode Island Mayoral Academies and Blackstone Valley Prep, was awarded a $263,000 grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to support the #ComebackCity High Expectations Project (CHEP).  The project is focused on improving student outcomes by helping teachers, leaders, and parents better understand and implement high academic expectations for every student.

As part of this project there will be a conference that is open to the community.
The conference will focus on three important groups of stakeholders: teachers, leaders, and parents, all who play a critical role in ensuring a culture of high expectations in schools and their respective communities.
