Dr. Jonathan Gruber in Forbes Magazine now says: PPACA will INCREASE health insurance costs by 30%
Dr. Jonathan Gruber has made several presentations to the Colorado Health Benefit Exchange Board regarding his experience as a Board Member of the Massachusetts Exchange, known as the Connector.
Dr. Gruber provided many statistics in his visits to Colorado on the potential success rate for state-based exchanges, and also provided his perspective on the small-group insurance exchange known as the SHOP, which included many speculative comments about employer participation (infering that employers won't participate).
For over a year, Colorado business advocates have been concerned about the information and statistics that Dr. Gruber has been presenting to the COHBE.
Yesterday, Forbes Magazine published an article about Dr. Gruber's change in message, from his 2009 statement that the PPACA will "for sure" reduce the costs to purchase insurance to today's message that the PPACA will create 30% increases for purchasers in the individual marketplace.
The question is: which Dr. Gruber are we to believe, and how much of the policies that are being considered by the COHBE are influenced by his presentations in early 2011?
